i want the hud to be rough, to be like a TDC that belongs inside a boat... a boat that was designed and built for war, not for looking nice.

Preach it brother!

Heh, maybe it's a present from Ubisoft to all the modders out there. "We do some bad/wrong stuff on purpose, so you folks know right away what you have to mod first!" :har:

I fear that we are looking at the video game version of:

All hat no cattle :nope:

hmmmm not getting a good feeling about this. The video spent more time illustrating the graphics. I noticed that there was no sign of any targeting aspect of the game (taking readings, using the TDC)

I was also wondering about the American dive signal.

I will wait and get this game with an open mind.

Here we have to defend a harbor which is attacked...
Thanks for the translation. :salute:

Since when were German Submarines given the mission to "defend a harbour"? Will this be the submarine version of space invaders where we get waves of ships entering the harbour?

I guess I am dumb. I have never heard of this before. Is this a current game or one under development?

doesn't SHIV with UBM have the same issue?

Since most of the time is spent out at sea the following regards graphics is the most important:
Sea and sky
U-boat and crew
Ships
Aircraft
most other graphics I don't care about really.
The other most important thing is game play realism:
sensors
tools
AI intelligence
Dynamic campaign
U-boat and ship dynamics
To me the perfect solution would have been a major graphics upgrade to SHIII with GWX!!:yep: Yes I've said it before and is my opinion only!:O:

And from the translation of the narration of the video:

By the way: Our traveling speed is set up very high right now, to show the process of navigation to you in a better way.

Well, think of it this way. The modders are more attentive to historical accuracy right down to the smallest details. The devs don't have that luxury to do that since they have a timetable and budget. Don't forget they also have the executives to answer to.

Woah, a little late to the party!

How come this video wasn't posted on the frontpage? I only just found it! This is the biggest thing to happen to Subsims since Red Storm Rising came out on the C64! Wow, what a polished product we're getting this time. It's almost like SH1 to 4 were practice and this is the real thing. Very impressed. :DL

are you talking about the main subsim page or the sh5 forums because there was a sticky with the video release for several weeks and this thread has been staying at the top of the forum so its been posted there for a while

The General 01-10-10 02:03 PM

Of course I'm talking about the frontpage, that's where the headlines are supposed to be. And what bigger headline can you have on a subsim website than any news about SH5?! Especially a video featuring a good chunk of actual gameplay in the most anticipated Ssubsim of all time! Don't waste your time arguing with me, just admit how fantastic it looks so The Devs get shown some appreciation for a change!! :DL
