She should have worn a t-shirt with a mushroom cloud instead. Would have made a lot of people here happy.

Maybe Ms. Obama just wants peace on earth? I know I'd like that.

:rotfl::rotfl:

Well, it's a message at the very least. Political? I dunno, maybe if she said that we'd have to do X or Y to create peace on earth.

In any case, this has become much bigger than it should be, by far.

A California mom says her public school administrators violated her daughter's First Amendment rights when they ordered the seventh-grader to take off her pro-life T-shirt.

Hm, now that is worse...girl should be allowed to wear the shirt if it's her own political view, right?

Not a very good analogy. World peace is not a controversial political idea. Abortion is.

Good point. You might be called naïve to believe in world peace, but certainly not for praying about it.

If war is a poltical continuance, then it would stand to reason that it's antithesis, peace, would be one as well. That would only be logical.

Poltical continuance equals = men making decisions for us ... decisions we can agree or disagree with, right?

Vietnam war comes to mind :yep:

If that's true, then a shirt with a peace symbol isn't expressing a political idea and so Obama isn't using his daughter as a political puppet as the OP claimed.

Biggles 07-13-09 03:46 PM

I honestly think it's hilarious that people would see it as that. Why would Obama need to make his daughter to be the poster of his world peace intentions? If I was a politician with such influence as Obama, then I'd preach for peace, and I think few would condemn me for it. Since when is it shameful to wish for peace?

I think here it is that we come to the nature of the beast. Politics is the system of discourse that the few utilize to manage the many.
