Personnaly, im reserving judgement tell i've downloaded, installed, and run the patched game. Honestly im hoping theres more to it then the posted changelog, and I wont give up that hope until ive seen the patch. And besides, some of the changes listed ARE pretty good, and something is better then nothing.

Don't look a gift-horse in the mouth...

As I've said elsewhere (which I suppose is another way of saying: 'I told you so'), we're lucky to be getting a 1.4 Patch at all. And for those disappointed with it's content, you should really wait for the add-on before passing judgment.

Thank you Maurean M & the Devs:up:

MISC

And no voices repair !!!

If durring a DD attack we could hear "Depth charges in a water" and "destroyer in attack run" and ... like in SH3 it would be a "must" !!!

For me some adds in 1.4 have been solved with NSM and ROW (thanks to modders).

but it's better than no patch...

This is the only way I can see of giving an accurate, 'fair' assessment of any patch.

Wait 'til we've had a chance to run it as stock SH4 patched to 1.4 before we render a verdict. Anything else is rather meaningless.

hyperion2206 10-25-07 07:17 AM

I'm happy about the patch and as some others stated before: I believe they fixed more then stuff then it is mentioned in the changelog. But even if that should be all we still can be thankfull that the devs were allowed to do a 4th patch!
And to everybody who's complaining I can only quote Senator John S. McCain:"Lighten up and get a life.":p

The change logs from the previous patch seemed kind of short, too. I don't have SH4 but have been following its progress. Were there any changes made in any of the previous patches that we not listed in the change log? I want to remain cautiously optimistic that this patch will fix some stuff not listed, but I don't want to get my hopes too high. I'm hoping this patch takes care of stuff not listed, but it still sounds like a good patch. Depending on reaction to the patch, I'm hoping to finally pick up SH4.

I'll wait for the official list, but any patch is better than none. The lack of interior damage sound is the biggie on my wish list. :yep:

Iron Budokan 10-25-07 03:45 PM

Nothing about the bases changing color when they change hands, or having Allied bases one color and the enemy bases another color to avoid confusion? :hmm:

Is this a complete list? There seems to be some doubt about that. Oh, well, I guess we'll find out later.

Well, I hope you boyz and girlz have been good little submariners this year otherwise Santa Ubi won't bring you any more wonderful patches... ;)

We'll all find out what's under the Christmas tree soon enough... :)

I would certainly hope that the ROW can be adapted to the 1.4 patch like so many of the mods were when the 1.3 patch came out. We'll just have to be patient while the modders do there thing and then be thankful that the modders are so generous with time and efforts.

Probex 10-26-07 04:11 AM

This is great news. We all had doubts whether we would see anything past the 1.3 so this is a very pleasant surprise. Kudos to the DEVs (and the publisher if they were in favour of this patch ;-) )

20km Visibility and Magnetic torps! Awesome! (not so for the people with older machines, but what an excuse to upgrade! )

Still no destabilized deck gun???? :p
Come on Dan! I gave you all the info you requested, should not be THAT hard to implement in a proper way since my mod is quite limited. get back to work!:)

Sounds cool! Thanks UBI (Bucharest)!

I don't care about cosmetics, functionality is the key which needs to be fixed. The game is visually fine, you don't need to change AA settings, resolutions etc..

it pushes my computer already!!

ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
Athlon64 x2 Dual Core 4200+
X1900XT 512mb
Windows XP
2GB RAM DR400

Pointless rubbish.

It is the gameplay which is important, and it is better to have the functionality of the sub and its' surroundings working before providing the less important things, such as visual improvement; why don't people learn..

They reduce the captain's log (good thing) to improve performance then take it back by providing a longer rendering distance - performance hit..

People talk about improving visual quality, but fail to see that the AA guns don't render properly as you cannot man them. Graphics obscure the view when shooting.

Glad they have put the fix on for the hull damage. I agree, it would be good if it was optional. Also, are they fixing the frequency of the number of planes on the campaign? What about the mission variety in the campaign?

Please fix the Merchant ship crash when striking it with a torpedo...Most people know the one I mean... When I play with v1.3 I replace the merchant ship file with v1.0 so it fixes the CTD. (from the mod) Problem is, the career crashes when I try and load the saved career. Very odd..

Functionality!!

Nice to see they might be doing an add-on, hopefully that will sort everything out.

To be honest there is alot that needs fixing still, but it is good to see the developers not abandoning the game just yet.

BTW, it was a nice surprise to see the newsletter in my email - Patch 1.4 and possibly an add-on.

The seas will remain silent for the moment, but we may re-surface in time.
