go pay a visit.
Leovampire, I think you should pay a visit to some of the UBI official forums to see what people are saying. EVERYBODY is in love with the Ocean.

Leo this is a work of art  Can't thank you enough for the work you did, it's fantastic! Only 2 probs I've found though:
Another benefit which I suppose is due to the mod, I went to PD and the scope was usable! Before, in that kind of weather my scope was under water 75% of the time at least, now it's under water less than 25% of the time. Great stuff Leo, thanks! DH |
leovampire....
I just noticed something about the wind states. There apear to be 4 actual windspeeds in the scene.dat file at the beginning of each wave state, not at the end. They make sense too... These values are for a default v1.3 scene.dat file: first at x075B = 0 second at x08D4 = 4 third at x0A4D = 8 fourth at x0BC6 = 15 The Tweak File uses x08D4 for Wind State 1. I wonder if it should be x075B instead? It then uses x0A4D for Wind States 2 thru 4. I don't know why all 3 use the same value. Perhaps the program does it this way but the above progression sure makes sense. Can't help but wonder if the Tweak file is wrong on these? Perhaps I should be asking the author of the file. |

thanks for telling me and linking me up Deepbluewolf
I posted something there for them so they would understand why it didn't even dawn on me about FPS on slower machines. Never even dawned on me to tell
the truth. oooooooppppppppsssss!!! Nothing like a tease you can't use I would be freeking out if things where reversed! wovik that is where the windcoef comes into play seeing the 15 meters per second spreds out to 2,3 and 4 wave states. If you adjust the coef you can simulate the inbetween wind levels so that it all evens out between the wave states. That is where Bob Wood came into play explaining how all that works so I was able to work around the limits of the actual game file set up for this. I don't think the Dev's thought about actualy doing it this way because people would normaly be freeking out about the game slow down not realizing people like us would gladly upgrade our machines if we knew what we needed to get the max effects this game can produce. I mean this is the kind of effects we all originaly expected from the game with all the hype they put into the advertisments and because of the new PC capabilities now a days. I mean the reason why new PC's and hard ware for them is constantly comming out is because of the more complex game's graffics wise. People want more improvments in graffics with each new game that replace the older versions. And all the PC company's and hard wear manufactures love it because they make a tone of money off of better games! |

I am using your mod with a pentium 4 , 1 gig of ram and a ati radeon X8xx series graphics card . I get 23fps in dynamic fog with the ingame graphics set to high and everything ticked except light shafts. In the catalyst control centre i set the Mipmap Detail Level to performance instead of high quality . Cheers for a great looking mod:up:

THIS is a MODE !!! i really am astonished at how much i feel in the ocean for real...
on a side note i have a complaint...its so real that all my crew is seasick http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...k_late1998.jpghttp://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...in/seasick.jpg |
First post so hello to all…:arrgh!:
First thanks for this is great mod. It looks great. Next due other tweaks I had to do the manual method, but I fear I might have done something wrong. Is the sea supposed to vibrate like jelly? Everything appears okay, except that it’s like the sea surface is made of jelly and that there is a constant earthquake going on underneath it. Sure in some sense that is what is going on in real life with the wave dynamics going on under the surface, but still the sea doesn’t act like it does with my current settings. I am getting seasick that’s for sure, but for the wrong reasons. Okay a few observations: Boat is in motion. Standing on the bridge it’s not so noticeable when I look straight out to the sides, but looking forward is just pain. It’s as if the water sense the hull coming and thus starts shaking 20 meters before the submarine even gets there. Then for reasons I have trouble figuring out, it is worst on the port side. Maybe the current is coming from that direction? (I’m doing tests as I type.) I changed course, and yes it could be connected to the current because eventually the vibration got stronger on starboard. However it never died out entirely on port, there is always a hint of shake. Next I tried the external cam. I can’t see the vibrations on the free cam, but if I use the unit cam and set it behind the submarine I can see the vibrations again. Okay perhaps it’s the camera moving that is creating it? The thought that it’s a creation from my graphics card has crossed my mind, but I have ATI 1900XT and updated drivers so….unlikely. Okay “all stop”. Yep now the sea looks perfect. No Vibrations at all. It is so nice I wish I had a fishing rod. (Again great mod  ) As my mind wanders, it could be that the animations can’t keep up, or are too fast when I’m at speed. Since I have a Pentium 950D I’m assuming it’s not because it can’t keep up with the number crunching, and as I wrote my GPU should keep up too. On the bridge, clear weather, my frame rate varies from 48 to 65 depending on where I look. Looking down on the boat it is 48, at the sky 65, and the sea 55. In other words I can’t see this being a problem with my hardware. Okay so I’ve triple checked the values I entered in the Mini Tweaker, but unfortunately I can’t see anything wrong. Is there any chance you might guess what setting I have to play with to reduce what I see as unnatural jelly-like behavior? I realize I’m asking a lot and I also have a habit of using more words than one perhaps should, as explanation and apology I can only say: sorry I’m Norwegian, and thus hope I’m forgiven. Now maybe it’s supposed to be like this. I have no other reference than the real sea, which has been with me my entire lie, and this does not feel like that with this vibration going on. One last thing that just crossed my mind, I saw someone mention frame rates of 15-28. Could it be that with my 50-60 range this vibration problem becomes more visible/noticeable? Anyone else have high frame rates who have noticed these jelly-like vibrations? Edit: I should perhaps test this in bad weather too, when frame rates goes down. Okay I’ll dive now, until my stomach can look at the surface again. Thank you. :lurk: Edit: I see others have reported similar experiences so I guess I did not have do be so focused on details. |
ok, lookin at the screenies for this, watch where you step. i din't need my jaw stepped on, yanno? i kinda have a need for it:-? . got a ?, tho. is there a more friendlier way to run it, rather that creating folders within folders? oh, did i mention this looks uber:cool: ?

Amazing. I'm almost tempted to stop using RFB and install this but I just can't quite manage it. Hope Beery includes it in his 1.3 compliant version soon!
Thanks for the work you've done here, as the others have said, this is a work of art. :yep: |

Could be worse, I found this mod at 6:30am my time this morning, having to leave for work at 7:05am. D/L'ed the JSGME version and of course a conflict with TM 1.3a so I had to find the scene.dat tweak file and do it manually. Got it installed and running at 7:00am and had only 5 minutes to drool over it before I had to go to work :damn::damn::damn: So you know where my mind has been all day. Frustrating to say the least! At least quitting time finally got here ;) DH |
