My last mission I got up to 10 before that *@$%&+ Icon turned gray! JCC |

What I discovered is that they do drift, and sometimes too fast to catch submerged. The only way I could finish the mision was to motor over to the area where they landed as fast as possible. When I got close to the icon I would drop down to 70 feet and find out where they were now. Once I had that I would change course for an interception, surface and head in that direction at 2/3 speed. Go straight to the bridge and start looking, without the binos, in the direction they should be. Once you are within a mile or so you will spot a verrrrrrry small dot in the water.
That's your guy! Hard and frustrating I agree. But when that @&$%^*# icon finally changed to gray, it was a real good feelin'. JCC |
Honshu
I've been ordered on my 5th straight patrol to Honshu although to be fair the objective indicator has actually shifted northeast noticeably. The previous four patrols were to the exact same location.
Beery, thanks so much for the guide, I've been going crazy trying to figure out how I'm supposed to 'complete' a patrol, now I know!! LOL. Thanks again. |
Oh well
It was a brief glimmer of hope, LOL.
Spent 5 days within the 100nm radius before the patrol loc 'star' turned grey and mission was complete. Returned to base and offered a new sub. I accepted sub (Balao) and was subsequently assigned to patrol................drum roll please.................HONSHU!!!! Not only that but unbeknownst to myself I was relocated to Brisbane, no warning, no message, nothing, just BAM, I'm in Brisbane!! God, I hope they fix these things in the next patch, if there is one!!!! |
Great Job
Thank you for taking the time to help so many of us understand what we are supposed to do. The helps in this game are really pathetic.

Bump. Useful info here.

To bring back the issue of the patrol area radius once more, it's definitely NOT 100 nm, at least with stock SHIV plus 1.4 patch. I have spent more than four days wandering about within the 100 nm but further than fifty and no mission accomplished; but when I reduced the area to 50 nm it was completed after the 48 hours.
Hope this helps anyone. |
I think there must be some problem with some people's setups because I've taken boats out to test this quite a few times and it's always worked fine for me when I've set my boat up just within the 100 mile radius and just waited. There may be some missions that demand a smaller radius - I don't know. All I know is that I've completed missions like this well beyond 50 miles from the target.
Could it be that you have your distances measured in kilometers? Not that that should make any difference, but who knows what bugs could creep in when they allow such options? |
Oddly I am having this problem today too.
I am within a twenty five mile circle of my mark I have been on station five days I have sunk three ships for 22000 tons I can not get mission complete I am ready to resort to hacking my savegame before I do anylast minute suggestions? M |

You think? I thought the Parameter was dont leave the area
or you have to restart so patrolling the twenty five mile circle in the middle ground should have been fine I thought. what the hey at this point I will try anything I have a cold beer and a warm nurse waiting for me back at the Royal Hawaiian. |
