DD masquerading as a Merchie?

what is this? a DD or a Merchie? Late October 1943, off the east coast of Japan.

Yes... It's a DD Momi II, DD Transport. They are to be taken out asap, terminate with extreme prejudice, as per USMC request - where ever they happen to be traveling to, they are attempting a Tokyo Express run... :salute:

Merc4ulfate, we'll probably miss the next release with the Special Abilities info box changes, but we're looking into it. Thanks. :salute:

Can someone tell me about the torpedo damage details and ship damage models in SH4? How can I calculate the hit points while torpedo hit different part and depth of a ship?:Kaleun_Salute:

Ahoy Frost1349! Happy 2nd post! Since I missed your first, a belated "Welcome to SubSim!" to you. :subsim:

In the meantime, the Sonar man is not deaf, he just cannot hear very far in distance. That issue is addressed in the next upcoming release, as is the "skate boardig" subs. As to getting assigned the Okhotsk Sea several times in a row, that should not happen under normal circumstances. Can you tell us what your computer specifications are, such as CPU, amount of RAM and the Operating System (Windows 10, or XP?) you are using. Also, where do you have Silent Hunter 4 installed? The game defaults to installing in "C:\Program Files (x86)\ Ubisoft". Did you enable the LAA (Large Address Aware) on the SH4.exe file? Thank you. :salute:

Giving latest FOTRSU a try, after beeing attacked by Japan floatplane i realized the AA gun is useless/broken because no elevation possible!

Even my AA man can’t aim correctly :hmmm:

I can provide a screen shot if needed, where we can see clearly his aiming is way too low.
A shame because it was nice target :D

Near Singapore in February 42 with a Sargo class by the way. Just after Singapore failed to Japan’s hands.

Any way to solve this?

PS: here is where the AA man shots, and where is the plane (i can't do better myself)

Seeing Okhotsk to often

Me too it seems, Fifi. I'm on my second, consecutive, mission to Okhotsk area, both Search and Destroy missions, from Pearl Harbor. The 2nd mission originated around May 25, 1944, the first about a month earlier, again from Pearl. The STAR for both missions is around 154E'00 - 46N'50. I don't want to come back "here" a third time:doh:
Also, no transfers allowed from PH since I got sent there after accepting "new boat" offer to move from my Balao to a Tench. My first ever Tench, like in EVER!!!
My same old rig, Win7, same mods, just the new v0.80_RC2_EN 12/18/2018

propbeanie 01-31-19 07:39 PM

The Tench is only based at Pearl in FotRSU. I might do an add-on with Guam and Saipan as well as the other "Advance" bases, but we'll have to see what time does for that. As for getting Okhotsk assignments, any more than one, should not be. You're at Pearl jldjs, did you get one for the Balao and then now one for the Tench, because that would be the only way that could happen - under normal circumstances... but that's you and Frost1349 in 1944 with the same thing. I'll look again through the files. Did either of you happen to remember what your orders said?

Fifi, as far as I remember, that conning tower is the culprit. It won't allow full elevation of the gun. Once you get a cut down skirt, it should allow full elevation. We'll look into those files also, and see what our settings are. Thanks all. :salute:

I have been assigned around Truk twice, raided it twice, I get no one firing at my periscope until I'm 200 yards from them and sank everything there including the Parker Tin Can twice. I have over 610,000 tonnes and it's only 1943. I wish there were patrols in Truk and the capital ships were harder and wish merchants tried to ram me. They are simply non aggressive at all.

It's like Happy Times for Uboats but in the Pacific as an American.

It's only '43 and I have almost 100% petty officers in the crew(only 11 are not), 10 specialist, over 13,000 renown, been given three new boats( up to Balao now) At this rate I should have a Los Angles Class by wars end.

Most of the crew characters are now the same guy . It's like their mother had ten all at once who look alike.

Harder enemy please. LOL

Ahoy Propbearnie, thank you for the welcome greetings.

My operating system Win 7 64 bit
CPU i7 4790K
Memory 16 Gb with 2400 Mhz

SH4 is on "J: \ program (x86) \ Ubisoft
The LAA (large addresse aware) would be re-executed.
The write protection had previously prevented it.
since no CTD.

Ahoy Propbearnie,
I did not mean that the sonarmann should hear far into the distance, I meant that he does not even locate a vehicle at 1000 yards.

In order to act carefully, it is currently only possible to watch over the free camera.
Periscope or radar are located very quickly.

Hi frost first you have to move your installation out of the folder (x86). This is a protected folder and does not like MOD

Not sure, if I went there in the Balao it was from Midway, at least 3 patrols ago.

Just a personal thought:
Isn't the deck gun flame a bit too much?

https://image.noelshack.com/fichiers...9-resultat.jpg

Strange sub behavior that i encounter only in FOTRSU:
When ships are that close (here first magnification) to be able to lock them i have to fully raise periscope. I'm unable to lock target if i lower the periscope a bit to sea level...so i'm harder to detect. Is this normal?
