Once again I find myself being glad I don't live in Curmudgeon Land. The version I just watched in my alternate Whoniverse was a load of fun!

Finished series/season 8 last night.

I am amazed how dark it has gotten since Matt Smith took the role (and Capaldi in S8). Not complaining, but dang, comparing to the early seasons when it was mostly just "indiana jones" type of adventuring... wow. :o

Steven Moffat is leaving Doctor Who, to be replaced with Chris Chibnall, who wrote previous episodes of Doctor Who and Torchwood, including The Hungry Earth, 42, Cyberwoman, and Countrycide, as well as creating Broadchurch.

With the exception of the Christmas special, Doctor Who will not air in 2016. Season 10 will begin in 2017, with Chibnall's Season 11 airing in 2018.

Oberon maybe thinking great I got a extra 50 minutes a week drinking time and form a conga line or 50 minutes more to write a pompous letter to The Times newspaper. Or even 50 minutes more hubba hubba time with the wife. :) :03:

So Peter Moffat has left the show, and I've seen rumors that Peter Capaldi will be stepping down after Season 10. Who (no pun intended) would you think would great for the role of Dr Who in Season 11. Also, what are your thoughts on a female Dr Who?

Jimbuna 02-19-16 08:20 AM

I believe Tim Roth would fit the bill well and he is certainly interested.

A female Dr?....Got to be Rose Leslie, after her success in GoT but in all honesty she has already been tipped to be the next assistant.

First off, I'm not sure how they'll play off another doctor. I mean, I don't want it to end, but c'mon....

Been watching Torchwood, the Dr Who spinoff. First couple seasons are kinda meh, but the 3rd season, damn. At least the first five episodes so far. It's a long serial within the season. One down side is that Capaldi does play a prominant role in the serial though, but he nails that character perfectly.

But I almost cried when (and seriously, don't read it if you want to see it, it's a major plot point!)

Capaldi's character shoots his kids, and then Jack has to kill his grandkid.

So far the 3rd season is worth the watch. You could even probably skip the first 2 seasons as the main character, Jack Harkness, you are already familiar with. The other lead, Gwen, is an ex police officer who joined Torchwood at the beginning of the series.
