Welcome Emil and Matt!

Emil, have you seen the full 5 hour long version of Das Boot? It adds a LOT of back story and "life on the boat" type stuff. Definitely worth a watch or three. :)

My name is Emil, I'm 17 yrs old and I live in Gothenburg, Sweden. Quite new to sub simulators, but sims in general has always been huge interest of mine.

Picked up Silent Hunter because I absolutely love WWII-history, and my favorite movie of all time is "Das Boot", so I thought about it for a while, and then decided to just go for it, and buy Silent Hunter. Now, it's one of my favorite simulators of all time! :DL

Looking forward to taking part in all the discussions etc. here on the forum!

Welcome Aboard :sunny:

new to sub sims

Hi everyone,

Just joined the group so please go easy on me !!

All my life I've wanted a really good sub sim game so after a long time I took the plunge and bought silent hunter 5 (last week !!)

The game looks really good and I was really looking forward to getting stuck in but alas I'm getting very frustrated with it - so can anyone out there please help

firstly the user inteface is really slow and jerky and the pointer moves in jerks across the screen is there any way I can resolve this (without buying another PC) and moving around the sub is the same

By way of background my PC is about 15 months old and the spec is Windows 7 (fully patched) with a NVidia geforce 310 video card. The PC has 8 GB memory an i3 cpu running at 3.07 ghz

Secondly can someone explain what the TAI is showing as the manual is completely useless so I dont know what I'm seeing !!

Lastly (for now) I understand that you guys have created a number of downloads to fix bugs make the sub look better and do other stuff. I've looked but theres loads of them !! can someone give me a list of the must haves and the nice to haves as like a starter pack ??

Thanks in advance

Hi there, to play at low resolution Silent Hunter 5 needs by at least a Nvidia 8800/9800GT, I have an ATI EAH5870 and if I play at top highest resolution there is a decrease of Frame per seconds

Hi Folks, new SH5 guy here, finally stepped out of SH4 to brave the frightening waters of SH5. Amid the rumors, complaints, reviews, and controversy surrounding this release, I gave it some time to evolve in the hands of the many talented modders that I've come to appreciate with SH4.
I've already stated working to mod mine into submariner splendor thanks to the talents of those who take the time to create the files that make this great title what it should be. As a 3rd party add-on developer for Flight Simulator (Eaglesoft) I know the commitment it takes to develop add-on software and hopefully please as many people as possible. It's my honor to be here.
