I have no idea if Steam embeds into the .exe ( Updaters for Steam? ) I know it causes trouble in other games mods.

Hey guys,

Cant get my LSH (black screen with mouse pointer bottom right and a crash after a minute)to work so will be giving GWX a try.

Cant seem to download the manual from the site for the install procedure though.

I have the steam version. To which I will have to apply the steam fix right (SFSF-MODULE - The New Solution for "Steam" & "Starforce") This works for me and it still boots and works after applying this fix.

What do I do afterwards ?

was able to install GWX 3.o gold on the steam version (after applying the steam fix). game boots up fine but the graphics dont seem to have changed at all (I started a campaign in 39').

Anything I can do to improve the graphics ? I have a 34" curved screen and everything is slightly stretched too.
Any patches you would recommend me ? I have an i& 3.4GHz cpu , 16GB ram and 1TB ssd as well as a very good nvidia gpu.

Im now having a different "issue". its mid 1942, I have a Type7 uboat, but GWX insists in giving me patrol grids that are on the East coast of the US, The caribean arround cuba, bahamas, etc., all the way down to sudafrica... Patrol grids i would normally be assigned if i had a Type9.
I have to constantly close the game before mission, and use sh3commander to change my patrol grid to somewhere closer.

I tried changing from 1st to 2nd then to7th flotillas, but same thing happens.
I dont recall this happening on my previous career. When i had a type9 i would get those grids, but when using a t7 i would get grids that are closer.

¿anyone have an idea of what might be wrong?

Installing on the primary drive is a matter of convenience for me. My C: drive is solid state, and therefore faster and more reliable. Put it on any drive you want.

Not shown in picture, but there is a total of 4 ships on fire.

Since for some reason this time game dint CTD, I shadowed the convoy for several hours, none of the ships sunk on their own, it seems its their cargo that is on fire? I also noticed that for several hours they were moving in zig zag, like they do when under attack (they never saw me).
Im not sure this is what causes the CTDs, but i think it may be related, as an indicator that something is wrong with those convoys.


Do you think that can be the same problem, which is behind those mysterious loading save games CTDs?


Anyway, perhaps I will try that LargeAdrressAware. I have 8GB RAM. The 4GB patch is already installed on my sh3.exe, perhaps it's not enough.

Good day everyone. I'm new in this group. I bought the Silent Hunter III game somewhere in the year 2003. I would like to play nowadays, but the resolution has changed from 4:3 ratio to 16:9.

The current laptop that I'm using is running on 1366 x 768. While trying to google the methods to convert the resolution, I found this forum. However, I am a little bit surprised to find out that this thread has 473 pages. While reading the last few pages of this thread, I notice that there are more than 1 types of patches for the aspect ration conversion. However,it is going to take a very long time for me to finish reading all 473 pages :-p . If you don't mind, can anyone here please summarise all available patches and recommend me which one is the best?

Hi foxfaisal and welcome to the forum.

One possible solution is to download this fix. I am currently using it to play SH3 on a 1440x900 laptop.:ping:

Oh, I forgot. You should also unzip the dx9res10.zip file and edit the resX and resY entries in the d3d9.cfg file. Then, place all files (except the readme and the dx9res10.zip file) in your SH3 directory and run the batch file. You should be fine.

GWX 3.0 with sh3 commander crash to desktop on savegame.
 
Hi everyone, I'm having issues with my game. I can't load a saved game mid patrol without a crash to desktop before loading bar completes and I follow the instructions in the GWX 3.0 manual, I don't save while submerged or save near any ship traffic nor do I upgrade anything on U-boat before first patrol except hire a few crew and change out a few torpedoes that cost no renown. I use sh3 commander with H.sie's fixes a few mods in jsgme but don't see how that would corrupt save games. If I play the whole patrol in a day and end my patrol at base it's fine, only happens while trying to load a save mid-patrol in open ocean alone on surface.

MOST TIMES I DON'T HAVE TIME TO PLAY OUT A FULL PATROL ESPECIALLY WITH THE LONGER RANGE U-BOATS SO THIS IS KINDA OF A GAME BREAKER FOR ME. sorry for caps:k_confused:

I do not see any problems in your case, but nevertheless I recommend doing a SH3 folder backup in "My documents" while minimizing the game in the tray.

Something I found, aside from the precautions you are taking, is to make sure I give the Save function plenty of time to write out the whole file. My system is pretty good, and I'm saving to a solid state "disk", but still when I watch the disk activity light on my machine I notice it goes for up to a minute past the point where I hit the Save button. I'm guessing that if you hit "Resume" or "Exit" right after making a Save file, it may not have completed writing out the whole file. Might just be superstition on my part, but I have not had a single "bad" save file since implementing a process to let the Save run its course - I get up and take a break at that point. Works for me - it may work for you. Good Hunting!

As you can see I don't like having too many mods just the essentials, only other mods I'd like to have but interfere with integrated orders mod(I need integrated orders because I use wolfpack mod part of h.sie's fixes)are FM Interiors mod 2.1D and Markman's MAGUI mod. I don't know which command to edit in commands file so I don't bother, and I'm waiting for Blitzkrieg to hopefully automate Stiebeler's add on as I do use his FRONT-END Program.

Removed and thank you, any other bad buggy mods captains? ohh and I do use the 1.4 resolution fix set to 1920 x 1080 p
