I just return to this game and install the update 8 of this MOD. From what I can see it's GREAT and I really love the water particularly the water splash and the foam.

However, I kept getting (at first) random CTD, and afterward nearly every time I go to the bridge view or anythiing that has to do with looking outside including looking at periscope the game went CTD:wah: Suffice to say the game is UNPLAYABLE now. Does anyone else suffer similar problem?

Thanks beforehand :)

No, it’s not normal at all!
Probably a lack of memory somewhere...

Have you installed the LAA (Large Adress aware) application linked to your SH4?
It will give you more memory dedicated to this mod (if you have enough anyway - you need at least 8GB RAM, more the better)

I'm running system with only 2GB of RAM. And this has never been an issue before. If my system is the issue, the problem already happen before I install the update. Only after I install update 8 this become an issue. When I play with starting years Sept 1944 (if I'm not mistaken) based in Batavia the CTD is merely random, however I'm now trying to play with starting year 1943 Operation Monsuun the CTD is certain guarantee everytime I access outside view (periscope or bridge view)

Any help is appreciated, and Thanks beforehand.

... you also have to empty the Save game folder, usually found in "C:\Users \UserName \Documents \SH4" (unless you use MultiSH4 for a different name). If you don't do that, not all aspects of the mod are carried over completely, and you end up with corrupted game data. You might have a bad case of cross-contamination... :salute:

Edit: Ahhh... 2 gig of RAM. You most likely will not be able to run this mod then. You need at least 4 gig of RAM and a way to address that extra memory, either with a 64-bit OS and the use of a 4 gig patch on the SH4.exe file, or if you're running a 32-bit OS, then you'll have to jump through some complicated hoops... :wah: - Post your compluter specs, and we'll investigate if there is an easy way to get up and running with this. Motherboard and cpu, or computer make and model can help alot, along with the video card if known, and the OS and its bit-depth, such as "Windows XP 32-bit" or whatever. :salute:

Yes, only 2GB RAM...it’s dead i’m Afraid.
I’m using 16GB for info :03:

you can probably get by with 2GB if you play SH4 Stock but OpMonsun has much larger requirements. that is why you began having problems when you loaded the OpM mods and then Fifi's mods. too much for your box. time to start saving your shekels, or rials, or pennies for an upgrade (my attempt at trying to be humorous).
while you are saving, play the Stock game.
have fun. good luck.:Kaleun_Salute:

It seem I need to re-post again to make it clear

In this MOD Update 4b this has never been an issue before and I'm running the MOD Update 4b WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM.

Granted, i run crap ****ty system here, however CTD has never been an issue in update 4b.. Only after I install update 8 this become an issue.

I'm currently playing this MOD in my crap ****ty system with starting date Sept 1944 driving type IXD2 based in Batavia without any problem, I even start from the pier also without problem not to mention running it in 2GB system too.

The problem when I play from other starting date (for example Operation Monsoon 1943)

The main reason I managed to run this MOD using such low end system is because I'm running a tight ship, meaning I get rid so many Windows 10 services. If I need to do something bigger (not playing windows games) I run it under Linux.

Don’t know what to tell you mate...assuming you are not playing older saves?

All advice i can give you:
- re-install brand fresh SH4 up to date (V1.5)
- re-install JSGME application
- delete your Document/SH4 (it will be automatically re-created)
- install Large Adress Aware application linked to your SH4.exe
- make your SH4.exe not read only in properties (same for Document/SH4)
- check the right mods path by opening each one (must be always Mod name/Data)
- give your SH4 the high priority running each time you launch it
- prey... and finger crossed :D

Good luck :salute:

I had re install the whole things over a dozen time already (not joking) and I'm fully aware of deleting save files

Why do i need to install Large Address when I'm running low end system with less than 4GB of RAM?!

Sorry if i'm being rather rude here. But i really like how this update 8 look compare to update 4b and I really appreciate what you did with this mod. However blaming my low end system despite the fact I could run this mod without any problem in specific campaign starting date is just doesn't make any sense.

TBH I began to think that this mod thing is more of a mod from one modder for another instead for player.

You're understandably frustrated, but I suppose it needs to be re-posted again:

I use 8gig. Minimal detail was provided by you, so we have to assume a "baseline" of ignorance. In the ReadMe.txt for the game (recent Ubisoft download version) is this:
-Minimum Configuration:
Windows® 7, Windows® 8.1, 10
DirectX 9.0c
2 GHz Pentium 4, AMD Athlon, or equivalent
1024 MB RAM
128MB DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics card with Pixel Shader 2.0 capability
DirectX 9.0C compatible sound device
DVD-ROM 4x or faster
6.0 GB hard drive space
Windows-compatible mouse required
Internet connection for play on Ubi.com (minimum 56k modem or broadband)

-Recommended Configuration:
Windows® 7, Windows® 8.1, 10
DirectX 9.0c
3 GHz Pentium 4, AMD Athlon or equivalent
2048 MB RAM
256MB DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics card with Pixel Shader 2.0 capability
DirectX 9.0c compatible sound device
DVD-ROM 4x or faster
6.0 GB hard drive space
Windows-compatible mouse required

Those are without mods. OpMonsun adds a lot more overhead to the game, and Fifi's Compilation adds even more. I would suggest that the "minimum requirements" would now be a 2-core 3GHz cpu with 4096 RAM and a 512mb graphics cards. When you run out of system resources, the game will CTD. That's all it knows to do - crash. There is minimal error handling in the game. You ought to try modding it sometime, and attempt to "test" your work. It can be very frustrating. :salute:

Hello! I have a question.

After installing all the succession of mods:

OpsMonsun_V705
OMv705_to_V720
OMv720_Patch5
OMEGU_v300
OMEGU_v300_Patch7
KiUB_English
Magnified Hud Dials for OM+OMEGU_Medium
Fifi Compilation for OM+OMEGU

I have the problem that the views of explosions and fire produced in the attacks appear to me as distorted images in square polygons and if I remove from this relationship of mods the last one (Fifi Compilation for OM + OMEGU) I can continue playing Operation Monsun without this appearing. I do not know if this problem has been answered by someone before since I do not usually participate much in the forums.

If you know the solution I would like to have it to be able to apply the last mod. Thanks to those who participate in the improvements of SHIV and make this game the best simulator of all.

Regards, Joan.

welcome, joan.
what are your system resources: cpu, OS, ram, vid-card, etc?
and what video options are you using within SH4? you get those from within the game, when you are in port, at the office screen and click on the File Cabinet in the far corner.
it's hard to make a suggestion without knowing some details however it sounds like you are out of video resources but that is a preliminary opinion.

I think it may be right that the characteristics of my computer are outdated:

Intel Core i7 2,2 Ghz with Turbo Boost up to 3,2 Ghz
NVIDIA GeForce 710M with 2GB dedicated VRAM
8 GB DDR3 Memory

I have gone to the graphic screen and although I have deactivated all the tabs the result of the explosions and the fire are still polygonal. Obviously to be a matter of system resources but curiously playing with the mod Fall of the Rising Sun Ultimate v0.40 I suppose I also need enough resources, I have no problem. For example, there is a misge mission of sinking Battleship George V that I can play in both mods and while with the OMEGU/MONSUN a blue fog appears all the time on the horizon that blurs the observation of the target, with the FOTRS Ultimate It doesn't happen to me, in fact it is the mod that works best on my computer, with all (almost all) of the Graphic Settings activated. I comment all this in case it serves as an orientation to solve the problem.

Thanks for taking time to answer and whether I can play with this mod
or with any other, I will continue to enjoy SHIV.

Greetings!
