I am out to sea all day today IRL. I am looking forward to the belated Christmas Present. Is the next release a beta? :Kaleun_Cheers: |
Yes, still beta. There are several aspects of what has been put into the game that need fleshing-out now. More missions coming!

What files to i need to tweak to get bigger field of view on the Conning tower , external camera and control room?

Hi Guys
I know the stock game special missions are bugged and Webster's GFO sorted this out. I am in a mission to drop a spy of at Honshu but it appears the star does not want to acknowledge that I have arrived. I am very close to the beach and if I scroll in the map I am actually well into the star which shows now it is on the land. Scrolling out I cannot actually reach it as I will ground the boat. I do not know how the game knows where you are in rel;ation to the stars position. Any ideas or is this something not working in FOTRSU? Peter |

We do have a Submarine School mission in the next release to help with grasping the concepts of insertions and extractions in FotRSU, and another for FotoReCons. Not in this next release, but there are some changes coming to all of those missions, and we'll eliminate most of the "mainland" Japan ones. I have found several sources of research info, and we'll attempt to emulate some of the real life missions. We will not be copying off of Ed Howard's SpyRon, but we are definitely inspired by it... Comments on SpecOps are welcome. Ideas are bouncing off the hollow of my noggin, but nothing has been found yet... tic - should we do a full-bore SubDiv, actually tracing the steps of the Narwhal and Nautilus? Get Hitman to finish building an Argonaut? Not many boats did more than one SpecOp, so it will not be a common thing unless you choose it to be, at which, you would know what boat you're going to get, if you've studied history... :arrgh!: -but all of that is later. :salute:

There's a nasty rumor of a fire and a cauldron boiling deep in the woods of the Fall of the Rising Sun Ultimate Edition universe......double bubble, toil and trouble....etc. Watch this space!:subsim:

A semi-nasty development. I've been a Firefox user for many years, then migrated to Waterfox when Firefox began its run of suicidal decision making with their refusal to make a 64-bit version.
With Waterfox I used the FireFTP extension to upload files to Subsim. But When Firefox went to a new scheme, they eliminated all of their old extensions, choosing to go with Chrome's extension scheme. This made long-time loyal extension developers for Firefox mad. One of the mad ones was the maker of FireFTP. And he just quit making stuff for Firefox, along with an army of the best developers on the Internet, who migrated you know where. So last night I tried FileZilla, the leading standalone FTP client. No joy. It would connect, fail to download the directory and time out. I tried every wizard and setting in the app. Crap! There are no FTP extensions for Chrome or Vivaldi at all, website administrators, software developers, simple modders like me be damned. Guess we're too much trouble to serve. So, since I'm a Linux user (not a Windoze drone) I fired up Synaptic Package Manager and searched for FTP. Of course I got a long list of the traditional Linux command line ftp tools, which I'm sure work fine and I'm certainly not afraid of the command line, but I prefer a GUI version. I found gFTP. The "g" stands for GNOME, which is a graphical desktop manager for Linux, so I gave this piece of free software a try. Looked just like FireFTP and it just worked. This morning I uploaded 100_FalloftheRisingSun_Ultimate_v0.80_RC1_EN. Tonight I'll hook up the links in the Subsim download area and update the FOTRSU thread. So Linux to the rescue. Had I been a Windows slave still, I don't know what the solution might be. Edit: a search reveals that there appear to be decent free Windows alternatives as well. The Windows world looks to be fully invaded by the Free and Open Source (FOSS) community from Linux. |
