yep, that happens.
i am playing OpMunson and i am having the same issue with the allied patrols of various aircraft. although when i detect one of those little Grumann's i know there is an escorted convoy relatively close. bwahaahaha
:haha::haha::haha::haha:
good luck. (you can always modify the Aircraft.cfg factors a bit. you know, just enough to let you charge your batteries. :D)

Wake Island was in Japanese possession from December 23, 1941 through September 4, 1945. While pounded mercilessly by US carriers several times, and probably did not have much of any air cover left by then, they probably had something to throw at you through late 1944.

The big thing though is v0.71 has a "slightly" ( ) overly aggressive plane layer, that should be more "normal" in the next update, due shortly. :salute:

I'm glad to hear that the plane layer is to be toned down.

I hope it's not too late to post a bug report before the next update. Maybe this has already been reported. In the Key Commands, Key "I" is supposed to take you directly to the torpedo management page but both the "I" key AND the "Y" key take you to the damage management page.
"I" should be Torpedo Management
"Y" should be Damage Management.

Looking forward to the next update.

Thanks for that Front Runner, but yes, reported, and yes, fixed for the next release. Don't hesitate to report issues though! :salute:

Has anyone reported that you can track aircraft with the hydrophone while submerged? At least you can get a bearing on them.

I thought that I had reported this in the past, but I'm unable to find the post. Reporting it now. I have not had this happen recently, but I have experienced this in past versions of FOTRSU. It took me awhile to confirm that it was enemy aircraft being tracked by sonar from a submerged depth of around 100 feet. But after repeated radar/visual contacts, and then crash diving to avoid, then getting the sonar bearing reading, I'm convinced that it was the aircraft being reported.

wow. impressive.
that's even better than the virginia class subs. they have to extend an antenna to pick up aircraft on radar but this....you can track them on sonar. i have to have that on my sub!!!:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::har::har::har:

Not trying to sound ignorant but the read me says I need 0.62 to install 0.71, and since this is my first time dealing with SH4 modding I figured I'd just ask about how and what I need to install the mod.

Welcome to SubSim :subsim: TommyAt94! :yeah:

All of the FotRSU versions are stand-alone, so all you need is Silent Hunter 4, v1.5 (Uboats) installed in a folder other than the "protected" folders such as a Program Files folder, of your computer. Lots of folks use either a "C:\Games\" folder, or the like. :salute:

I do remember a previous report on that. I do not recall how much we looked into it though... Seems to me that Stock will do similar. I'll do some other testing with that later this evening. :salute:

The "read me" confused me as well.

I just used the FOTRSU.71 through JSGME and it works!

Did you get it working OK?

You might want to look at the SH4 Corruption Management System if you want to install multiple copies of SH4. I'm currently using multiple installs including TMO.RSRD.OTC, Ralles Mod Soup, Wolves of the Pacific Vanilla, and FOTRSU .71.

Super Strong destroyers?

Hello,

I’ve hit destroyers now multiple times with 2 torpedoes and even then they don’t seem to go down. More times than not, it should just take 1 right?

in real life, yes, one torpedo is enough to sink a DD,DE,ML, et.al.
clearly, you are dealing with game factors that either rate the DD construction too sturdy or torpedo strength too light.
based on SH4 experience, it is easier to upgrade the torpedo strength than to change construction on each model of destroyer.
try this mod:

good luck. and good hunting.
