There simply drawing, but if the idea is pleasant to Onelifecrisis, I will make TGA files.:yep:
I like single sliding stopwatch. :hmm:

People are free to make whatever add-ons to (and even full-blown alternative versions of) the OLC GUI that they wish, as far as I'm concerned. One thing, though: it'll take more than a new TGA to get the old notepad back.

Even though I have the draggable stopwatch added, I am not looking to have the old notepad back. However I would like to have the [Speed ---] text displayed, even if it's in the default location. Seeing how the ship's ID is displayed in the scopes I'm going to presume there is a way to get the text for the Speed to show. I'm comfortable making my own edits, I just don't know what file/lines to edit.
That, is the information I seek.

Are you playing with manual targetting or automatic?

I always play with Automatic targeting.

I recognise that this Mod has orgasmic tools for manual play, I just don't have the patience.

That's fine, I only asked because with manual targetting what you asked for is not possible. But with automatic...

Find an entry called Name=Speed val or something like that. There will likely be several of them, and in different sections (a couple in the attack scope section, a couple in the UZO section, and a couple in the obs scope section). One of them is the entry you are looking for. Change it's Pos= line to move it onto the screen. There may already be an appropriate setting for each of them after a ; symbol, which would save you some time, but if not... well, you understand cartesian coordinates, I presume.

By the way, do you think that if I make the letters "F.A.Q." in post #1
REALLY BIG
then people will be more inclined to read it?

OLC, thanks for uploading in rapidshare for me, I've been playing with your mod for weeks now and I love it. I imagine how awesome would be that obs periscope on a 25" monitor...

One thing tho... I didnt find answer for this in your faq, what file should I edit for the button "solution to target" appears on the gui? I play with manual targetting but with weapon officer assistance, I just increase the length of the sound file used for his reply to the command, that way it take some time for him to calculate the solution and therefore its a little more realistic. Before I formatted my pc, I was getting the solution via "enter" button which I configured in SetKeys, but I really prefer clicking the button (actually asking it on the microphone would be perfect lol).

Thanks in advance!

You can do that you know. It's pretty good fun, too! Subsim's download section has a "voice command" utility for mapping voice commands to keypresses. In the readme there's a link to free MS voice recognition software to use with it. It all works perfectly, so give it a try.

In the military we didn't use the "degree" system, but the "thousandth" system : a full circle is divided into 6400 units. One thousandth equals a 1metre width or height at a 1km distance. the formula is F/M = D, where F is the object size in metres, M the width/height of the object in thousandths, and D the distance in km.

For example, a man of an average 1m75 covers 4 thousands in my lens. 1,75/4= 0,4375
The man is about 450 metres from my position.

With some maths you can get the same formula for a 360° scale but it will obviously be less accurate.

in the manual of sh3 on page 38, they give us the formular: distance = Mastheight / sin alpha

i will give it a try now.

This ist exactly the formula, most of the tools are based on.

Edit* Of course, Pisces is right. tan alpha equals mastheigt/distance
therefore distance equals mastheight/tan alpha

Well, theoretically this isn't the propper one. It should be Mastheight / tan alpha. But the difference in result is pretty much insignificant for small scope sizes. So you can use it safely.

Now something (slightly) off-track. I found a website that proves ones again the Ujagd/OLC gui mod is very realistic: (unfortunately it is in german)

That's weird. I'm not having any problems, but then I do not have McAfee, or any virusscanner checking for problems in my browser. I'm using Opera 9.23 as a browser (alot safer than those swiss-cheese products of microsoft) and it doesn't complain one bit. What reports does McAfee report specifically? (Maybe answer PM, if you will.)

Confirmed, just use Opera (my is 9.25), no virus risk at all.

i have a question about the OLC gui: how many degres are represented by a mark in UZO and Peri? i know that i could calculate it for myself, but i dont know i put my calculator...

For the marks on the red/green scale on the range/AOB finder, when zoomed in at 6X, 8 marks = 1 degree.

Ignore the marks on the UZO, they seem to be bugged (stock bug). I'd love to get rid of them altogether but the only way I know how introduces side-effects that I'm not entirely happy with.

I've no idea how multiplayer SH3 works, never even tried it, but I see no reason why the GUI should cause a problem.
