Our mayor just posted a comment on Facebook, about someone not getting any more schnaps now that Kosovo is at peace :DL I'm guessing he's drunk as hell (on his holliday in Croatia). Our mayor was actually in Kosovo as part of a peace-force

So was I, and despite living in tents down to -29c, walking through a minefield (actually our own cluster-munitions :nope:) to clear rime off our HF antenna, and avoiding fridges in pot-holes (no sh!t, one pot-hole on our route to Pristina contained a fridge, or it may have been a freezer!), getting shot at whilst escorting contractors to the outer marker (pot shots for fun, obviously didn't want to kill us :stare:) it was the best place I've been to. :yep:

Fond memories of playing Doom and Downhill Mountain Biking, two-player, on a playstation on a 14" telly with a black bin bag taped down the middle of the screen so we couldn't see the other. And drinking ethelene glycol/vodka. Oh and a Gurkha sigs detachment cooking us a goat curry Goat was sourced locally and involved one Gurkha, one goat, one kukri :D

Those were the days :hmmm:

I think you'd need a better grasp of the nuance in the English language for this one but it was in response to the post just before it and I'm confident the creator of said post will understand the meaning....he must do, he's not responded which is a tad unusual for him :DL

Ahhhhh, you meant uncle Albert. I thought you meant Herr-Berbunch

He was a boiler operator and his nautical skills were defined by: where the boiler went, the ship went :D

Welcome.

Got the old house name plaque during the weekend.

http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._5890516_n.jpg

These names have been with the houses for centuries, and any house that has the plaque stands on centruies old fundation. Some can be traced to the 8th century and so the fammilies inhabiting them. One of our villages (Rodine) stands on where a roman setlement once stood. Not ours though. My ancestors came here when they were displaced by the Napolenic wars.
