so, i sank this tanker and had the external viewer on when i see this crewman standing on a platform of one half of the tanker. what the H is standing on?:har:


i enjoy stuff seeing stuff like this because the designers and coders couldn't think of every possible hit or damage and sometimes this is what happens.


not sure if it comes across in this version of the graphic but there were 3 crewman on the left part of the ship, as well as 1 on the below-the-waterline "platform".

Just a few comments regarding your exceptional FOTRSU Mod. Everything is fantastic in regards to the sound & graphics. The task forces are extremely formidable you gots to buckleup buttercup to take those guys on. The only glitches to me were the noise from leaking pipe mentioned in an earlier post. and the planes. not so much there #'s but maybe they see just alittle too good at night. The TDC is awesome when you use it. It is spot on. the position keeper is very sharp and easy to set the targets course. Must be the work of CapnScurvy. Truly amazing. When I first started playing I was like where the frack are the tails but after some time you adjust. you get better the TDC more than makes up for the lack of tails on the map. To me I cannot play this game fast meaning no cranking up the TC. If you set up an ambush everything perfect for the kill shot oops enemy changed course! Much better than stock.

Success getting FOTRS v.72 started! Began a War Patrol and everything looks gorgeous! Started a career, entered the base, clicked on the map to leave Pearl and then the opening message on a black screen starts to vibrate/FLICKER/hangup. :wah:
Hoping this is a common problem but haven't found a thread yet. Will keep looking. Any help appreciated. The beers are on me...:Kaleun_Cheers:

ehhh... War Patrol?... Some of the War Patrols will work, but some will CTD the game. Some of those missions missed getting updated, or received too much "updating", depending upon which one you are trying to use. Those particular Patrols are fixed in the next forthcoming version. The "Fleet Boat Campaign" and "Single Mission" should all work fine. You can even run the Germain Campaign, except that we haven't "fixed" anything in it.

So far those are the only ones to work.
As soon as I receive orders and start the mission, choose where the boat starts; in port or out in the ocean, the bar shows loading mission progress and then a dark screen with a message; "No mission too difficult", or something to that effect. Then I hear voices of the crew announcing visual contacts of certain ships in the harbor. Then the boxed message and voices start to shake and vibrate. Then it hangs. I "window key" out of there to the desktop.

Beats me. :o

that sounds like a memory issue. have you activated Large-Address-Aware (LAA). great utility to enable your computer to use more than 2-gigs of RAM for this game. look in the downloads section, if you are not using it.

LAA may be activated. launch it and go to Options. if you see SH4, check to see if it says "true". if yes, that is not the problem. if it says false then try it again. be sure and uncheck the Read-only property of SH4.exe before you attempt to activate LAA.

Regarding LAA...your post prompted me to double check mine. The read only box was checked. I unchecked it and it asked if I wanted it for all sub folders and files.

I have encountered no problems with unchecking the read only box for all files and sub folders, both in the base v1.5 game and FOTARSU.

This may be obvious, but when looking at the settings for SH4 under LAA, be sure it is talking about the SH4.exe file, and not the SH4.gu file. I've seen it go to the .gu file instead of the .exe file, so I always check that out.

All files in the FotRSU folder should be write-enabled (un-tick the "Read-only" box), else you might have a partially activated mod, because JSGME and LAA might be unable to alter files the way they should... :salute:

That is several times now that I have seen references to v.72! I was under the impression that the newest public beta available is v.71. Did I miss the announcement? Or are they speaking of v.72 testing from area 51?
