Check and see if you still have fuel, also check your bridge crew, check if silent running is ordered, check and see if you have battery power or are running on it. |
Horizon slowing it all down?
Hello everyone and long time no see!
Just installed SH3(via Steam to eliminate the DVD), GWX 3.0, JGSME + SH3 Commander and I'm back in the groove with U-111. Just missed Rodney in a task force South of the Shetlands and the fun has begun. Just one problem... Im running it on a netbook(1.6Ghz, 1 Gb RAM)and everytime I bring the horizon into view my machine starts to slow right down. I understand its a machine problem but is there anything I can do to alleviate it. Deck gun and bridge stuff is painfully slow. I.ve reduced all the graphic properties including particle density down to 20. Any help would be gratefully accepted. All other positions are smooth as butter and underwater is too. PS: This is my "small" engine. It has no problems with SH3 with LSH5.1 in 1680x1050px at 4096 time compression. |

Below are the system requirements for SH3...GWX was designed to run on the same requirements but because of its size will naturally take longer to load:
MINIMUM PC REQUIREMENTS Widnows 2000/XP MINIMUM Pentium III or AMD Athlon 1.4GHz Processor 512MB RAM 64MB nVidia GeForce 3 or ATi Radeon 8500 Class Video Card DirectX compatible Sound Card DirectX 9 4X DVD-ROM Drive 2GB Hard Disk Space RECOMMENDED Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 2GHz Processor 128MB nVidia GeForce 3 or ATi Radeon 8500 Class Video Card |

For example: LSH5.1 takes 3 minutes for loading on my machine - from ssd. Both, LSH5.1 and Ccom (by rowi58) needs 4gb ram including the 4gb patch. GWX needs a little bit less hardware - but it needs more than the stock game as well. |
Well I know it's of no help to you but at least you have identified what the problem is.

hello SH3 community , geo here from SH4, ok, I just purchased SH3 and what MOD would you suggest to an old salt like me?
|
Well, if you haven’t tried GWX yet(Mega Mod), you must definitely try it once to see if it fits your taste. It add much better graphics and environment with realistic damage models, ship sinking times etc...
http://www.thegreywolves.com/gwx3/ If you are into Realism, I can recommend you H.sie Hardcoded Fixes as well. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=174225 |

thank you guy's, I have been wanting to try exactly that,:salute:
|
How "clean " does the install have to be to install GWX gold ?
I have only played practice tutorials, or does this mean I have to re install the game again |
It is worth it to install over a clean version. I have never done otherwise, just to be sure.
Just my .02 :yep: |
thanks guy's
