Thanks for the help with regards to the harbour locks.

How about the high resolution is there away for me to play in high res so that I can reduce all the jaggies.

Cheers

Hi skip
The jaggies have always been a problem with SH3.
I have a 4gb gpu and use high in game resolution.
My fps rate is high until I open the map up big and then it can drop like a stone.
SH3 is a 10 year old game not designed for modern digital monitors with high screen resolutions.
This was still in the period of the old VGA 4.3 ones.
Might try a medium in game resolution and see if I notice much difference to the fps rate.

So the best I can hope for with Silent Hunter 3 is basically a wide screen mod that will fill the screen.

Cheers

Thomsen's Sound Pack:

As already noticed in past posts this mod will not work with LSH3, causing CTD's. However, if like myself you get fed up with hearing 'Jawohl, Herr Kaleun!' after every order, adjust the following as advised in the 'Readme.txt' within Thomsen's mod file:

I'm confused, I use the Thomsen sound pack with LSH3 and I have no issues, ever. Am I just lucky?

Hi jscharpf
Did you do any LSH3-2015 test missions with this sound mod?
This is where the problem usually lies.
Your boat being thousands of miles away from its starting base.
Disabling the mod before the test mission and then enabling again afterwards will get around the problem.
The same goes for using Ahnenerbe's wide screen mod.

Hi Res - Wide Screen

My monitor's native res is 2560x1600. I use the GUI Widescreen MOD for LSH3 and set the resolution in the V15 "main.cfg" file for 2048x1536.

Every game screen is big, beautiful, crisp and sharp; I don't have any "jaggies" nor any frame-rate issues. Those seem to be resolved best by the settings in the graphics card controller; mine is NVIDIA "Manage 3D Settings" and I use the recommended values that are in a thread on the SH4 forum. IIRC they are: Anisotropic filtering = 16X, Antialiasing Override/4X/4X Supersample; Texture Filtering - Aniso = off, Neg bias = Clamp, Quality = High, Tri-linear = On. I also made sure that the Scaling Mode is set to Aspect Ratio and Perf. Scaling is set on GPU.

Hope this helps...sink 'em all!:arrgh!:

Thanks for the help CaptBones.

I gave your nvidea control settings a try and they certainly did the trick. The game in now running perfectly with a nice clean image and no jaggies.
Suberb cant thank you all enough for the help.

Cheers

never any problems, no.
Yes I think I have to run a test mission every time when I have a new sub, and I just go to AO83 and sink a ship.. nothing exciting

THEBERBSTER 09-04-16 04:56 AM

Hi jscharpf
That is strange you are not having a problem yet myself and others have.
I wonder if your choice of enabled mods has some influence?
Peter

Thank you Peter...

But...in all honesty it was just some information that I remembered was out there somewhere. In fact, I just checked and the thread is "stickied" on the Silent Hunter 4:WoP forum.

It was started by Rubini in 2008 and contains many pages of useful info to suit just about any display hardware and firmware/driver configuration that one is likely to have to work with any edition of Silent Hunter.

Since it is about nvidia tweaks for SH3 and SH4, I wonder if our helpful moderator(s) couldn't copy it and sticky it to the SH3 forum as well. I know that would take up bandwidth and physical memory, but sometimes people apply narrow parameters to their searches and that thread isn't in an obvious place to look for answers to SH3 problems.

quick question,
is it safe to choose any option I like in SH3 Commander like, for example, Gameplay Settings\ Set wave height or Randomise U-boat crush depth?
