There are not two political parties in the United States. That is a carefully maintained illusion foisted upon the people in order to keep them divided, with both halves constantly at each other's throats.

There is only one political party and they know that if all the people ever stop squabbling and hating each other, they might wake up to what is really going on, and then there would be big trouble.

If voting actually made any genuine difference, it would be illegal. Besides, voting is tantamount to wishing your favored candidate God speed. 2 John 1:11 applies. And I'm not over-anxious to share in the nefarious deeds of any of the varmints. I've got enough to answer for from my own rotten behavior in life.

He systematically discredited a democratic election.
He (HIMSELF) prepared the falsification of the results.
He forced responsible politicians to manipulate the number of votes, and sent fake-electors to Washington.
Finally HE agitated the mob to a bloody storm for the Capitol.

All this is well-known.

In one and a half years a congressional commission of inquiry has meticulously gathered the details of an attempted overthrow of one of the oldest democracies.

Anyway, up to now before court HE only had to take responsibility in side-show prosecutions. The cover-up of bribing a porn star in his financial statements, the stashing away of secret government documents and the instigation of public servants – those alone are all serious criminal actions alright.
But they do not rudimentarily capture the dimension of the social destruction HE brought over the country.

With the third accusation about the incidents around the attempted coup of january 8th, 2021, some Mr. Smith eventually advances to the core of the crime:

HE knew exactly that the allegation of election fraud had no substance. He willfully created an atmosphere of mistrust and fury, to undermine the Americans' confidence in the elections.
Although he knew he had lost he was determined to stay in office.
Juristically this is willfull deception, the obstruction of a democratic process and authentication of election, the conspiracy to deny the citizens their voting rights.
And this alone is enough for a few years of arrest.

So lets forget Trump and go back to the Democratic Primaries, it was amazing how manipulated those Primaries were. I remember all kinds of debacles at the time on how the Democratic Party machine ran things. Do you really have a choice who is elected? No
