I've tried downloading it at least 6 times now from filefront. I will try winrar.

Thanks OLC, I will let you now if I have success.

I think mast height for Bismark is a bit off too. You are not supposed to fire on that ship anyway so it's not like it's important. But I couldn't get the range right on her right until mast height was lowered to something like 52*2 instead of 57*2. The always accurate watch officer was my reference. I was counting to the end of the mast, if the flag is used the number must be lowered even further.

Btw, is there any way to check those numbers out of game? Not the mast height in recognition manual, but the height of the real model.

I only count to the top of the flag if it's higher than the top of the mast. Basically, I use the highest point on the ship, whatever it is - and that seems to work well.

Is the flag on the Bismark not the highest thing on the ship? Otherwise your comment is a bit confusing. :-?

Storabrun 01-19-08 06:01 AM

Exactly, the flag is not the highest point on Bismark. But even if using the highest mast the number 57*2 is still too high. 52*2 works better.

Edit: I saw that you plan to use the new accurate scale made by Joegrundman. Great news:up:
Is the plan to shrink them, or are you going to use them as they are with a better field of vision? I noticed they are made for the 10x attack scope in GWX, are you going to have that too?

onelifecrisis 01-19-08 08:10 AM

The scope will still be 6X, which will work because I'll be using my marks, not Joe's. The FOV through the centre of the AOB Finder will be bigger compared with previous versions of my GUI but smaller than U-Jagd's.

Credit to him and thanks for the permission to use it :)

Maybe you should wait for gwx 2.1 to make it fully compatible.

That's the plan :yep:

Thank you very much for this mod! I just recently got GWX 2.0, which enabled me to enjoy SHIII again... and now I found this OLC GUI of yours, and it adds even more realism. Great job!

Immersion is not a crime!

Hi OLC,

Just letting you now I have now had success getting the video tutorial for your GUI mod. I was able to use 7zip without a problem to extract it. I'm off to my church this morning and will look at the video when I get home.

Thanks for your efforts in improving the Silent Hunter III experience.

Sincerely,

Hi OLC,

First of all, thank you very much for the great mod.

I would like to suggest few things, you may want to consider for your next verision. I hope you don't mind.

1. "Event Camera" window - could you please reduce the thickness of the frame and especially the thick shadow? I believe it's overdone and a "lighter" version would be less disturbing.

2. If possible, would you also consider reducing the thick black frame around most of your GUIs? It is ok to have such thick frame in the periscope view, however, it is a bit too much when switching to other views especially conning tower.

3. I like to use the automatic target identification option. I started to hate to surf through identification manual with so many new ships in GWX. Question: would it be possible to change the font color of target identification to a black one? The white font e.g. "Largo Cargo" is a bit of an immersion killer for me. Ideally, I would love to have the name of the ship eliminated completely. Just a small black "X" or "-" (for every ship) would be good enough for me. Clicking on the "X" or "-" would bring up the recognition manual page anyway with the ship name there. I hope you know what I mean. In summary, I would prefer having the luxury of automatically identifying the ship without viewing it's name in periscope.

Please take these points as constructive criticism from a big fan of your work. :) Thank you.

OLC,one more suggestion:Would it be possible to enable the animation of the lever that extends/retracts the periscope? It's working when you click on it with mouse, but when you use the keybord keys to extend/retract the periscopes, the lever does not move. Thanks

They're both purely cosmetic (and in the case of #2, quite a lot of work) and besides, I like them, so no.

No, I won't remove the name completely - I can think of no good reason why it shouldn't be there, and it's extremely useful. A black name wouldn't be readable at night, so that's another no.

Does it move in stock SH3? I've not checked, but I bet it doesn't, in which case it's a stock bug that I almost certainly can't fix.

If it does move in stock then maybe I'll take a look and see how I broke it, if I find the time.

Cheers

Hi OLC

I've added a slight level of extra detail to some of the rings on the AOB finder
