FAIL.:down::down::down:

just a wrong texture...the indicators needle is the same, as on the left dial.

:03:

but fail is, that the boat has full flank speed and the engine dials show no rpm...lol

Still a fail with the RPM's. How do people make these mistakes....really?

Just a sign of sloppy work, no attention to detail, rush job, use stuff from older games (didnt SH-3 have the same dial mistake???)

Thanks Han :salute:
I like what I see, surely there are some quirks but all the stock versions did. With mods it will look a lot better.
Comments:

1.The Crew screen, there sure is more people on board then are represented there, I wonder if we can manage them and the icon on the right of the current crew names brings a pulldown menu?

2.Radio Msg Received screen, forget the very accurate info, on the bottom, there are checkboxes for captain, exec-nav,..., Consy.Off.(?).. That means they can receive messages?.. Anyway, I think this BDU comms and dynamic campaign will allow the modders to code a very interesting and perhaps more complete campaign from scratch.

3.Clouds look nice. They could be volumetric.

4.In the shot that he is looking down from the conning tower hatch, I think it has been flooding there! :arrgh!:

5.There's clearly dynamic shadows in most shots. Inside and outside the sub.

6.In one of the shots boat is making 30knots!

7.The UI is normal, the laser thing is all beginners I think. None of us play stock UI so this will be completely revamped by the community hopefully.

Overall, it's exciting stuff

no, it means they used the same texture from SHIV :shifty:

Well that interface is just horrible.

I can hear the captain not shouting "Ahead Flank", but "Give me Warplevel 5 XO"

Damn. Missed this thread. Now they are all gone... :wah:

Anybody saved them?

EDIT: Nevermind. Just woke up. :D

awesome see flooding sea water inside the sub

I'm loving the minimap in the corner, too.

piri_reis 01-25-10 05:12 PM

But look at the floor here:
Looks like knee deep flooding?, almost up to the bottom of the hatch to the next compartment? That could explain the drops on the camera.
Or is that the floor?, next compartment is clean?:yawn:

Yeah, you're right, that explains the water blotches on the screen. Looks like the water hasn't spilled over into the other compartment...

Dowly 01-25-10 05:37 PM

You can see one of the pipes leaking in that pic. Just a tad up from the navigation officers head.

wow never noticed that looks awesome

yea its not spilled over the hatch opening. wonder if you can close the hatch to stop flooding into other compartments?

that explains the water droplets in the pic. i think behind these 2 crew members they will be bulge pump duties to some of the crew to pump out that sea water.

Interesting stuff those screenshots shows.
The flooding is pretty cool and I like the idea very much, after all, I did raise that idea somewhere at subsim during the Q&A and Dan replyed that it was basically too complicated and that it probably wasn't going to be there but... it is eventually! suprising... they do really takes idea from us from time to time after all...

Looks like we're going to get independant control over board and starboard engines if i'm judging by this dials screenshot, nice.

I'm a bit puzzled as to why UBI didn't want us to see those screenshots though... there has to be something with it... Maybe it's all for the better, as it might show some things that has been or are planned to be corrected or done better before release and they don't want us to become upset.
Now maybe it's because some things are going to miss in the final release, i don't know, we'll see I guess.

I kinda like the torpedo closeup picture, although it could have been heavily photoshoped with the light rays, depth of field and etc. Still, the mouse cursor tend to suggest it has not. At last! it makes underwater scenes to be more atmospehric and less "flat" and boring. More dramatic

Now i don't know WHEN and at WHICH state of completion of the game it was played, but some screenshots shows a "pretty poor" level of details/light behavior/texturing for a 2010 game, some almost looks like SH3 screenshots on the deck, "flat" and all, looks like some old shading technique (those who are into 3d modelling and 3dsmax for ex. should know what i mean)! Dunno, might depends on the wheather state they were taken at... some wheathers are more dramatic looking than others. If you want to have a good look at what sim games should looks like nowadays, take a look at Wings of prey. I've tested the demo and it's one marvell to look at! Not entirely photorealistic looking, at least not so realisticly depicting wheater and all, but rather very atmospheric in an artistic way, with great use of shaders that are cleverly and artistically thought. Gorgeous and to top it off, the most optimised rendering engine I've seen for years, giving steady high FPS with every maxed out AND 4x AA (I'm using a HD3870X2, a pretty big card with dual GPU which... already "have" its limits, and not to a small extent! well supposedly at least, if I'm judging by most of nowadays games which apparently are not that close to run well with everything maxed out...!)

Uboat interior looks a bit, well... it doesn't show this much details for a game that is "advertised" as having a very strong focus on the type VII :-? I fear optimization has not been the only reason... Still, we and guys like Tomi are going to have lots of works if we want to have a good looking detailed interior. Ready to go to work! :salute: lol

Sort of basically share my point... A mixed bag of outdated looking graphics with good things. It seems most of the rendering engine improvments are limited to more shaders/post process things and raising a bit the polycount (not this much on ennemy ships though and in sub interior and some aprts of it like the AA guns for ex.)
All and all, it seems to have a "we're in a rush" finishing. Then again, maybe it was sort of "beta" in some key areas

They're probably going to ship SH5 without a 3D Crew which will be available a bit later as Downloadable Content. :DL

Yeah and the wheater effects also :know:
you get calm sea state at the release, first DLC will have mid-calm seas and second one rough seas :arrgh!:
Oh, and thunder lightnings for the third one, of course :88)
lol, now i don't worry this much about that "DLC" fear though... Maybe just for an additionnal uboat and campaign 43-45. But well, remember even SH1 had DLC (and it's been years ago! and of course it wasn't "downloadable" for the time i guess)

these posts are getting anoying and not funny anymore, becomes boring dude.

Galanti 01-25-10 07:45 PM

Gawd, that interface.....it still floors me, that this a niche product catering to a loyal community that thrives, above all else, on historical authenticity, and they give us interface that looks like something you'd see on an Apple or Win 7.

V.C. Sniper 01-25-10 08:03 PM

still the same crappy looking torpedo wake, but they got a bout a month to replace this simple effect

Adriatico 01-25-10 08:29 PM

Why is format 1280x1024 ?
Don't they have a normal wide screen ?
