What kind of minor hockey system do you guys have in Finland. It used to be here ( 20 years ago when I played more competitively ) that double\triple A started at the Bantam age level ( 13-15 year olds ) now this type of hockey is started at the Novice age level ( 8 - 9 year olds ).
I struggle a bit with that as I think it does produce a better hockey player but I also think it turns some kids off the sport due to burnout and also from pressures from their parents. To me it's the quality of coaching vs. the quantity of play that makes a difference.
Case in point, after regular hockey season here, which ended in late March, I had a chance to put my middle son in a Spring Hockey League, if he would have played he would have gotten an extra 16 games under his belt. But I checked around and did not hear many positive things about the coaching so we decided to not put him in. I would rather put him in a good hockey school for a week.
Great Web Site from Hockey Canada: http://www.hockeycanada.ca/
Anyway, I am curious at what kind of developmental programs other countries have.
