5 times more people!? Well hell boys, I guess half of you can go home. :D

People forget the number of tanks and hardware stationed in this state. Remove nukes from the picture altogether. I'd love to see even Russia try! :D

That ain't half as important as the number of Texans we have stationed in this state:D Texans form a dispropotionately large number of armed services personnel, and I've been told that around half of the Marine Corps hails from Texas.
Even better, Texas is the world's leading producer of Texans, so watch out Mexico!

Eh...he's got one part right. The little Los Angeles community that I live in is de facto part of Asia*, anyway.

*...Asian =/= Chinese. Important misconception! We have Mainlanders, Cantonese, and Taiwanese for three distinct variations of "Chinese", plus the Vietnamese, Koreans, Japanese, and Filipinos here that all qualify as Asians.

So...just which way will California go?

A Very Super Market 12-31-08 02:20 AM

Everyone seems to assume that all Mainlander Chinese are the same. Well Pttpppph!

In the same that Germans are no French, Texans are not New Yorkers, and Londoners aren't Scots, different parts of China have completely different people. In 1 billion people, there are like 81 ethnic groups, the dominant one having a huge majority, but only genetically. If put socially, China may as well have more than a million.

Yeah, and calling someone Asian can range from Indian to Filipino.

And that goes triple for Texas. I think Mexico would have a hard time trying to invade a state full of pissed off rednecks.

Not to mention the thousands of Yankees and midwesterners who would head down there to help out the Texans.

AntEater 12-31-08 11:32 AM

But what about the Mexicans allready there?
They are almost as many as the Rednecks, and they have mexican passports so Mexico could implement the Medvedev doctrine
:rotfl:

A Very Super Market 12-31-08 01:06 PM

I totally agree that Mexico (and all other nations) can't invade the current US. That being said, if the US broke up into all those pieces I'd expect even Texas to eventually fall. Bullets don't give a damn about how tough you are.

Edit: I wish I had typed this without the Chinese Sailor Avatar... :P

Man i would love some of what the Russian guy is drinking must be some real strong stuff.
Funny how the place where all the untapped fuel sources end up in Russia hands.
All Russia wants is to control as much of the worlds fuel supply that way it can hold the world to ransom.

Somehow I don't think you've taken the bullets in Texas into account, here... :ping:

Kind of what I was getting at with the Yamamoto quote. Guns are veeeeery popular down here.

As a Nanjing Mainlander myself I couldn't agree more. Heck, you should hear the different accents in my Mandarin class. :o

But yeah, if any part of China tried to assimilate us crazy Californians, that would be their downfall. The rest of the US barely understands us anyway after 150 years; so good luck with any other country.:smug:

Guns are...popular? I don't think it's the popularity of guns that makes a place difficult to conquer, or a tough opponent in war. My country (Finland) has conscription which means that even the most measly looking accountant dude knows how to take out a tank, or how to assemble and operate an assault rifle. Somehow I don't think fancying guns really measures up in a real situation.

It does. He's just being racist although he probably doesn't realize it.

Iceman 12-31-08 03:50 PM

So all our entire nuclear arsenal never comes into play whatsoever...man this person clearly does not learn from history....aren't we the only country that has actually dropped big bombs like this on another country?

I know missles would fly before this scenario ever played out and I would think the Soviets and China are a little brighter than to even consider such all out attacks....why attack when it is all for sale atm anyways...

Against the Mexican "Army", it probably would be more than enough.

Besides, a good amount of those people who are gun enthusiasts have also served.

Then again, let's assume that this idiot professor is correct and the nation splits according to his crystal ball. Why would we then go on to assume that Mexico would want to attack in the first place? Frankly, in that situation a foreign invader would be just what we'd need to reunite.

Oh, and remember: we do still have a massive military. It all just won't disappear.

Digital_Trucker 12-31-08 06:13 PM

Indeed, why would Mexico want any part of the US. If they took it over, they wouldn't have anywhere to run away to.:D
