IIRC the artificial funnel was used for passengers pet storage :hmm:

One tiny little thing VonDos... The Titanic, flew the Blue Ensign not the red one, because Captain Smith had served in the Navy. So if you are going for total authenticity of ship... a blue ensign is needed

You are correct, however if she was serving in WW2, possably as a troop ship, I think the red ensign would be flying!:yep:

Captain Smith would have been long dead from old age before WWII started. Unless he lived to over 100. :D

I read somewhere that just before she went down, a passenger climbed inside and opened up all the dog cages. Not that it did the dogs any good - a couple of them were later found dead/dying in the debris field after the sinking.:nope:

@privateer - it was common back then to add extra funnels to passenger ships for purely aesthetic reasons. Three and four-funneled liners tended to be more popular with the public, so it may have been worth the initial investment.

But the fourth smoke stack really was a dummy. it was put there for ventalation and to make the ship look more powerful.

Those things were HUGE!!
Imagine the scrap value today!!

The guys at White Star Line wanted to really to stick it up there with their rivals Cunard.
So they added the fourth funnel to make something impressive more awesome because during those days, three were the norm... I think... :hmm:

Just wondered how it's going VonDos, hope it's not causing too many problems!:yep:

VonDos 08-14-08 03:11 AM

Just awsome VonDos! I see the deck chair is there!, the launch date is going to be a spectacular event! This would surely have to be the biggest ship building job you've done so far?:D

So, can't we use this trigger to activate when the bow is underwater and the stern is above the water level? That way, if we strike a torpedo on the bow, she will sink like she really did, and when the right moment comes, she will slip in two...

What the top minds in this forum think about this? possible?

No top minds present at the moment, I belive!

Might be an incredibly stupid idea...

I think this value has to do with two figures. A: Initial damage caused by torpedo impact. B: Secondary damage caused by cargo (fuel or ammo cargo type)

I ran into this when I was messing around with torpedo damage zones to try to get it close to a real value of 600 LBS of TNT. The ships carrying cargo would split in half at least 90% of the time, no matter where they were hit (bow, stern, under hull, direct impact.)

Stop and look at the files involved people.

With breaking up a ship?

The collisionable stuff is attached to the FULL Hull object.
The _B and _A are not visibley assigned in the dat.
They appear when the MAIN object which has the master values
assigned is terminated.

I would start at createing a NEW zone.
Then assign that zone to different areas
and re-assign parent-child ID's.
Always watching the Visable settings in the dat!

S3D can show you this stuff.
Open your minds!!
It's all there!!
:rotfl:

VonDos 08-17-08 11:32 AM

Waiting for this ^_^
Should i continue the model\repaint work or a stop time is better until this will be ready? :hmm: :hmm:

With this, i'll start to work directly from your file ^_^
