Hey I'll skin!
Hi everyone, this is my first post ever to this forum. I'm a graphic design student and got alot of skills drawing and working with photoshop. I'm basically offering time to help with a skinning project, as it would be both fun, and very useful experience for me.
So anyone interested in teaming up or needing extra help, drop me a line. I still need the walk through on what file formats of models to use, how to obtain them, impliment them, etc. There's alot to learn in the Modding community i've learned, and documentation for it is difficult to find. Are there any F4 Wildcat models? I've been wanting to make a Wake Island sub mission (Wake had 2 Subs assigned to it, and were active in its defense in Dec '41) It pains me to see that the only US fighters in SH4 are if i remember correctly, Brewster Buffalos, which promptly were just a mere relic by the end of '42. Those poor Marines on Midway stuck with them (The Norwegians loved them however). |

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=140753 It should be a fun project that would include ships and planes that could be used in campaign mode too. |
Nice Projekt Privateer !
Did you still working on it and when did you think you gonna release this beauty ? The corsair is one of the most needed planes in the pacific theatre. Greets AOTD|MadMax |

What you all have to think about is how many more lives would have been lost if the USA, Britain, Australia and Russia had to invade Japan by force of men in arms. I know more countries were involved, but cut it short.
Japan swore to resist to the last man women and child, but once the bomb was dropped and they could not fight against that kind of weapon they knew they were done for. Even then, they thought the damage done at Hiroshima was a fluke / accident and not just a single bomb even though there on people told them it was ( scientist that is ) we told them it was and warned them, thus we dropped a second. That settled it. Flame all you want, it want change that one fact. :nope: Estimate alone in just US WIA / KIA / MIA was estimated at over 1 Million if we had gone in by force of arms to end the war in the pacific. We didn't even have that many ground troops. This estimate was based on the last few Japan home islands the we battled the Japs on and there resistance on them which got harder and harder as we closed in. They beleived if they made the cost in lives to great for us they would win, and they were most likley right or would have at least got a negotiated ceasefire. As support for the war was wearing heavy at home. I don't like the fact we were the first to use the A-Bomb, but it was sort of justified when looking at the "short term" picture KIA wise for all sides. But dropping the bomb cannot be changed and someone would have if the war continued as it was. If we don't all wake the heck up soon too we are gonna have a bigger war than WW2 (Not blaming just GW, many political people beside him ar ate fault here ) if we do not all come together and get over all our bickering in politics. No not a "One World Government" either. But something needs done IMHO. I like my freedom and the 2nd Ammedment to....lol, and the UN doesnt like us having the freedom to bare arms against enemy's foriegn and domestic. Yeah, I know, kinda hypocritical statement about peace and bearing arms, but there will always be criminals and I will defend myself. Here in Dallas, Texas last year over 7500 emergency calls to police took over 3 hours for the police to respond. These calls include intruders in the house, burgler's and aggrivated assaults. One call really stood out, it took the Police over 12 hours and 4 911 emergency calls before they finally came. But by then there entire house was cleaned out completely. The local news media here ripped the Police Chief a new butthole over that one...LOL |
I have some UV mapping to finish and the actual placement into proper files.
This Unit will change it's Canopy as time progresses. So it starts as the 'Bird Caged' F4U1, then swaps Canopy area to become the F4U1A. And you can have those opened or closed. ;) |
Nice to hear that privateer.

Quite handy if the BPF/Task Force 37/57 gets included again. Mike. |
If you have a link to a picture I could make one with the
proper wings. |

Thanks!!
BigBoyWooly sent me some killer links also. I can do the wings with little problem. Someone else will need to do skins after release. I'm about as good at graphics stuff as My Huskie Storm is!! Infact? His a bit better at it!! :rotfl: |

The F4U 1 was the "Birdcage" model
The F4U 1a incorporated the "blown" hood with two frames across the top. Plus it also had more modifications to improve the design, and also used a triangular shaped wedge about 8 inches long on the leading edge of the starboard[?] wing to make both wings stall at the same time so it was easier to land on a carrier deck. The oleo struts on the main landing gear had to be worked out to eliminate the bounce that plagued the early models, but was eventually worked out on the 1a model. |
I hope this plane can be included in the Pacfic campaigns, how is it progressing? :)
