Your favorite boat?
Your favorite boat?
none of the above poll list. :p but add something like Klass 214, Klass 212 or Typhoon then u get my vote :) bit tired of the same old rusty tubs |
I think it was obvious he meant your favorite to drive in SH4. Do you know SH4? There are boards for the games that let you drive some of the subs you mentioned; and if not, get somebody to make one.:sunny:

Type IXC :P

I have a lot of trouble answering this question. For performance, sure, a Balao-class, but most of my best SH IV moments are associated with particular boats, not the class itself.
Like when I tore into a convoy of light passenger carriers south of the Phillipines in the Sargo...or turned a photo recon into a raid on Osaka with the Grampus...or marvelled at how cool an Ise-class battleship looks doing a sharp turn through the periscope of the S-31. Etc. That said, gonna vote for the Salmon/Sargos. Something about them I like. |
Salmon/Sargo's for me aswell. They strike a rather nice balance between the two extremes of the S-Class and Balao.
Not to mention I've commanded the Sailfish in 4 seperate careers, and shes hasn't let me down once. |

WELCOME ABOARD!
Funny, you don't look a bit like him.:rotfl: |
Gato, specifically the USS Drum because I actually went aboard this boat in Mobile , Alabama. Having been aboard the boat sort of personalizes the experience for me.
|
Whats up letterboy. I to have been aboard the Drum, and just as you said it does
give the game a little more umph. personally i like the sargo class purely for asthetics. btw letterboy i live in Auburn, Al. Were like 30 min. apart. |
After alot of reflection, i have concluded that my favorite class of sub is the Tambor, more specifically, the USS Tautog. So i joined the bandwagon, and placed the emblem of my favorite boat in my forum sig :88)

Sugar boats are fun and challenging because they are fragile and have limitations, but I voted Baleo because its the biggest and baddest of all boats listed.
|
yep
the salmon or the Balao class sub the bigger the better foe me:up:

Balao
Balao for me. There will always be a place for the sugar boats too. I have command of the USS Balao as of now and it's 1944. Gato comes in second though, as I've sunk a lot of tonnage with the USS Drum:sunny: . Kind of sad 1945 is approaching and I know the war is gonna end along with my great carrer I've had . I have only found the Yam Toe Yamato once, but only was able to send 4 torps before I got chased down by the tin cans. That is one of my goals before my career is over. Maybe we will meet again, I just have to find ole Yam Toe.

Gato
The best gato submarine in WWII was USS Rasher. I like the Gato class.

Voted Balao but to tell the truth I probly should have said Gato as they have always been the goto boat for me
|
Man, I love them all!
I've always had a weakness for the underdog. I was a Type II hugger in SH3 and naturally I lean towards the S-Boat a lot in Wolves of the Pacific. The only thing I don't like about the S-Boat is the lack of a TDC (yeah, I know it has one in the game, but I like playing historically) so I switch to Porpoise every now and then when I'm tired of filling my map with doodles :D |
The Sargo's just grow on you after awhile. They seem to have a knack of getting you out of trouble:arrgh!:
Lt Cmdr Will S T Reay USS SAILFISH SS-192 "If youre going through hell...keep going" |
Well, I like to fight with one arm behind my back and use the TDC; Porpoise is my choise. I would have woted for the Sugarboat If it had got the TDC irl.
