I only don`t like the graphics in shiv.
The ships do like drawings that floats on the water.
The sea looks more realistic in sh3 than in sh4.
:rotfl:
Better look at a drawing than at a schedule  :D

BTW: What else don't you like ? The highly detailed 3D models ? The awesome particle effects ? The beautiful enviromental lightings ? ;)

java`s revenge 07-21-07 05:57 AM

With sh3 i sometimes get the feeling that i am really at sea.
The waves, sound etc.

At night when you look at the stars and around you you feel really lonely.

With shiv i dont get that feeling.

Ok. That maybe, I don't know. But some people said that at least since GWX came up the immersion is a lot better in SH3 than in 4.

Graphics don't make a whole game, that's right :)

java`s revenge 07-21-07 07:08 AM

That`s right GWX is top.

So in future i hope there will be a gwx for sh4.

I do play sh4 but i prefer sh3+gwx.

Download the 5 bin files + gwx.exe

After you have installed this download also
gwx103.exe. That`s a patch on gwx.

You will never look back at the stock sh3.

I really hate him for letting thousands of men rot in stallingrad for his cause.

just be glad that it happend this way. as I wouldnt have a good night rest with hitler's picture hanging above my bed...:dead:

A popular notion but not really true. Germany had upped it's production of Type VII and Type IX U-boats considerably by mid-war. The problem was those types were obsolete and vulnerable to Allied countermeasures by the middle of the war. Hitler would NOT have been able to leave the Soviet Union alone for a number of reasons. He badly needed oil to run his war. The SU had big oil reserves. And it was just a matter of time before the SU declared war on Germany. So Hitler opted for the surprise attack benefit. It had worked in western Europe and it actually worked quite well in the SU. Now if you want to blame overextended supply lines and a worse-than-normal Soviet winter, I agree with you. Hitler a "complete maniac" with no intelligence about strategic decisions...I don't think so. No man can conquer as much as what he did and fit that description.
Did he have twisted ideas about race/religion...most definitely. But I wouldn't lay all the blame at his feet. The Allies from WW1 deserve a good deal of the blame for causing WW2. If they had done like the Allies of WW2 had done and helped Germany rebuild instead of trying to punish it by driving it into bankruptcy with those idiotic "war reparations", the war in Europe might never have happened.

And I'm still holding off on buying SH4 until the price drops

The problem with the Soviet front is that Hitler was obsessed with Stalingrad. If he had just encircled Stalingrad and left it to starve like Leningrad he would have been ok. Once Moscow had been taken the Soviets would have been more or less knocked out of the war. IIRC Army group centre was only about 30miles from the gates of Moscow? At the start of the war Hitler was a very clever man, but by the time Stalingrad came around he was a complete loony and hooked on god knows how many drugs. This ultimately led him to making disasterous decisions towards the end of the war. Its like if the generals had sent down the panzer division waiting north of the normany beach heads the invasion would have failed and the allies pushed back into the sea, but the generals didn't order the panzers to move because they were afraid Hitler might order them shot or something, especially after Rommel and other top ranking generals were pushed aside or accused of treason etc.

I don't like referring always to Hitler when talking about this war.
He had many people around him who made important decisions and he just gave the general orders, following their advices.

In fact, there are known a few occasions when Hitler made decisions all by himself which ended up in a disaster. And don't remember yet, it's a while ago since I read that. They were minor things, I don't mean
the invasion of russia (for example).

You seem to be forgetting the Russian Winter. They weren't prepared for Winter fighting and the option to starve out Stalingrad was simply NOT possible. Moscow wasn't taken because the supply lines were too long to safely protect. I wouldn't believe all the crapola that is circulating concerning Hitler's drug addictions and sanity. Don't forget the VICTORS get to write the history books and the view is almost always slanted against the losers. Same thing happened after the American Civil War. It all became about "ending slavery", which is complete BS.

As to the Normandy beachhead...no way those Panzer divisions could have made one bit of difference. First of all, the Allies had complete air superiority, so moving them during daylight was impossible. Plus consider the size of the force opposing those Panzer divisions. The beachead was far too big and the numbers were far to great for the German divisions in France to be able to offer any meaningful resistance. As for Rommel...he WAS treasonous because he supported the attempt on Hitler's life.

I haven't bought sh4 yet. I don't know anything about sh4 mods. But I've been reading threads about sh4 and official patches. With 1.3 it doesn't appear to work yet. But if mods fix it perhaps I should buy it and try it. 50 euros is bit steep. Perhaps when the price drops.

Wow,talk about rewriting history to fit your own narrow viewpoint....

So I guess Lincoln was lying when he issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 and everyone, even modern day history books and scholars and people with a functioning brain-stem, still buys into the fabrication the Civil War was about slavery. That Lincoln, what a jokester. Fooled everyone into thinking the seminal reason the Union was fighting the South was because of slavery...and all because of the Emancipation Proclamation which says the war was about ending slavery, but that was all obviously either faked or just a little ol' misunderstanding on Lincoln's part.
