Lets say that for me one destroyer is a problem, how big depends on the situation and weather - but when 2 or 3 destroyers on my a@s i am very very scary :ping: :ping: :dead:

Yup 2 i can handle when theres 3 plus then i start wishing i had a nox engine and soem jet skis:yep:

The warship I fear the most is the one that finds me! Period.
I also fear a warship that is capable of detecting me even though I have forced my boat down as deep as I dare. |
I guess since my play style is to constantly raid harbors, my fear of DDs and the like has been considerably subdued. I ALWAYS preset my torps to fire in order to keep me ready as I enter the harbor. That preset is to have them run at the shallowest setting, impact pistons, and whatever their fastest speed is.
To be honest, the only time I've had a problem is when I DON'T preset my torps. The trick I've found, and it works in GWX or vanilla, is to actually give myself away to the enemy. That way, if the seas are calm enough, and they are within a 270 degree arc of bow, I can nail them with impunity. That is because, for whatever reason, any vessel with ASW will charge towards my position, and ALWAYS in a straight line. Then I just adjust depth, switch to magnetic piston, and fire. It's shocking how simple it can be at times. |

well the Hunt class can be a right pain as well only a small DD but they seem to have some uber equipment/crew. i have encountered a few of em in the past even submerged, silent running and 2knts 1941ish and they still pick me up from a fair distance and they dont give up at all. i personally havent had any bother from flower class or black swans either, i have had 3 of em on me before and had no bother evading them. get down to at least 160m and the DC dont seem to ever reach me after that i just sneak away changing course slightly every 5mins or so.
|
You must be the only person who dont fear the swans you got anti swan paint on or summit:hmm:
|
hehehe no honestly never had a problem with em

The only thing you should fear is fear itself. Take the battle to them kaleun and don't let those deckswabbers pester you. They seem to always forget the reason why submarines were made was to detroy pests like thos ships. After you take out 5 or more of them in shallow water in a very small timespan you will find out. I dont know why the heck I was ever scared of these guys. Go Gunther Prien on them, just without the deckguns against DD's cause thats near certain death with big groups. IF you want to go surfaced gunther prien aim for their cannons they set off a nice little explosion and pretty much leave the small arms fired as its only mean of defence. I find this good for armed trawlers if I can get behind them I quickly surface fire 1-2 shells into the DC racks 1-2 in the control center then submerge again.

I would agree with Corsair U boats in WW1 and 2 were created to sink merchants and try not to engage Combatants. Mind you there were a few brave kaleun's who took the war to the DD's and bigger but me i would rather sink a nice big fat juicy merchant:up:

One question Spray, are you playing GWX? because if you are I'm impressed. Don't think I'd want to mess with those nasties at all:o |
