For the matter of that in a real war torpedos would certainly do lots of damage to sea life and no one is going to call off the war because of it. I wasn't being critical I was simply curious about the story.

Another gaffe in HFRO
Minor Bridge Officer of Red October: "He didn't 'slip on his tea' did he"
Exec: "I don't think I like your tone..." Presumably he was speaking out of habit. Or was the Exec actually threatening to court-martial him for insubordination to a fellow mutineer? |

Nope, somebody mixed up the charakters. The names of the CAG, Skipper, etc dont even come close to "Mancuso".

Crimson Tide
The reason for the exterior shots being inconsistant is because anything the US Navy would not support the film in any way so they had to other countries' subs for many shots. I believe Israel owned the attack boat. The reason the USN didn't support the movie was because it concerned a mutiny on a US Naval vessel. There has never been a mutiny aboard a US Naval vessel.
My brother-in-law has served aboard the Wyoming and the Nevada working as the senior NCO is the missile room. I thought he was going to kick the TV he was so pissed by the level of liberties taken in order to make what was basically a proaganda film. (ok the last line was opinion and not fact truth is I liked the movie when I first saw it but after seeing it with him not so much.) If that happened in real life everyone involved would have been court martialed and at the very least been discharged or been forced to resign their comission. |
