Post 9 to 12. There you can see the pasted messages.

ExFishermanBob 09-22-15 12:21 AM

Yes, I knew that - it was the entry-screen that I was thinking I might adjust.

Fahnenbohn 09-25-15 04:54 PM

Any news here ?

ExFishermanBob 09-26-15 07:51 AM

Yes, version 2 is very close to release - probably tomorrow / Monday.

complutum 09-26-15 12:20 PM

In version 2 could we insert ingame the bdu messages?

ExFishermanBob 09-26-15 04:34 PM

You can do that with version 1. Copy, paste, etc. Read the web-page.

Edit: you might need to move the date to the first line of the pasted message so that the tool can extract it properly. E.g., paste into the tool (BdU part via the "Tools-BdU Message" menu option):

Code:

From : BdU

To : U-46

27 August 1939

*****CLASSIFIED******
BEGIN

Negotiations are about to fail . war is closing.
Prepare to engage British merchant shipping as per DEF rules

END
********************
SIGNED
Konteradmiral von Harris

Then move "27 August 1939" so the the message becomes:

Code:

27 August 1939

From : BdU

To : U-46

*****CLASSIFIED******
BEGIN......

You can then '"Extract", "Convert" and "Write to file" (well, assuming you've set the message-file location in the preferences.

Are you still working on version 2 ? :ping:

ExFishermanBob 10-04-15 09:29 AM

Yes, I had hoped it would be last week, but those pesky customers (and children)!... Should be today / tomorrow.

Current status: you can receive (download) messages and post them (with a suitable name and password). Currently working on converting the downloaded messages to local radio messages.

I will issue the testers, including yourself, user names and passwords just before release.

V3 looks like having BdU facilities expanded, so that messages from Captains to BdU can be copied / pasted into the tool for management (where captains have not signed up).

That's Version 2 done, just need to make the Windows EXE and write the documentation. :D

Version 2 released.

Changes:
A (hopefully) simplified interface.
Posting messages to RTE now works.
Receiving and placing in-game messages from RTE works.

For version 3, as I now have to part-manage a flotilla, I shall be working on the BdU stuff. Areo16 had some ideas on synchronising config files (this would work with the dynamic campaign stuff too), so place-holders are there for that.

Fahnenbohn 10-05-15 09:46 AM

Cool ! I'm going to create a new career to test if RTE can receive my messages sent to BdU !

I have a question : when BdU (Doenitz Elite Flotilla) sends you a message, does he have to send it through the forum, or through RTE, or both ? In my mind, BdU should be like other players allowed to send messages. Thus, when downloading the public radio traffic, you will be able to have U-Boots' and BdU's messages !

The idea is that BdU and yourself would communicate that way BUT as yet, no flotilla (BdU) has decided to do that, so you communicate with them in the way that they want (it's their call, not mine).

Note when you send a radio message, it is now ALSO copied to the clipboard, meaning that you can also post it to a forum, allowing you to use your flotilla captain for the RTE and flotilla, even via a forum.

You will not see you own messages (obviously)...although you can cheat that by posting to RTE and then setting your option to 'just receive'.
