Captain JJ that is ... or this the 12 month period before qualifying for captain?

He now needs twelve months sea time in before he is eligible to undergo his oral examination for Captain (approx. 90 minutes in duration).

He text a few minutes ago to say he was boarding his flight at JFK to St. Thomas...the lucky bugga :)

When he makes Captain Jim, and if I mention your name to him, could I get a discount ticket on a cruise or would he charge me double the price!?!:D

Maybe we all need to get together and take a cruise on his ship. I'm sure we'll keep the staff busy keeping us from trying to submerge.

LOL, still at St. Thomas as far as I'm aware.

Young Buna is currently on his first cruise since gaining his Chief Officer qualification. The cruise is a Baltic one and today his vessel the MV Eurodam is in Stockholm.

He rang this morning to let his mom and I know that the current Chief Officer/Staff Captain is leaving the ship at the end of July and he will then be promoted to that position.

Time to get that third stripe sown on the uniform bonny lad.

That could've been me you know ... all I had to do is serve 6 months on the Golden Bear Merchant ship academy to get my license, but no I had to go and waste my time on other useless efforts. What could've been :oops:

Instead I will enjoy sharing the joy of your son making captain soon :up:

TS GOLDEN BEAR: berthed 2000 meters from my marina at entrance to NAPA River; currently on training cruise.http://photos.marinetraffic.com/ais/...?photoid=89385 to my port as this one passed me on the Starboardhttp://www.cslships.com/sites/defaul..._sheilaann.jpg ...SS SHEILA ANNE 41K tons closing 1000 meters within 3 minutes...one heck of a wake and a big 'bone' in her teeth! Rule 1: in the ship channel 25-foot Catalinas do not have right of way...even on the starboard tack!:dead: Two splendid young lads from the academy own a Hunter 30 ft in the slip next to mine and are currently 'learning the ropes' aboard that training cruise voyage.
