An average cigarette contains about 9 milligrams of nicotine of which about 1 milligram is consumed by the body by smoking it. A typical cigarette contains about 1 gram of tobacco. (http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/f...Tobacco/cigars) The food that has nicotine occurring naturally in it have nicotine levels measured in nano-grams (1 billionth of a gram) per gram of food. Discounting the absorption ratio and the effects of cooking/preparing the food, I think that if a person were to consume enough food to come close to the amount of nicotine absorbed by one cigarette, they would have other gastric "issues". One cigarette = 9 milligram of nicotine 0.009 gram One potato = 15 nano-gram of nicotine 0.000000015 gram (absorption rations not factored in) So yeah, some food has nicotine - true fact The amount of nicotine is of nano-significance compared to tobacco. :D |
