That is one big monstor of a ship. It seems all thes cruise ships being built now days are so boxy and tall. Looks like one good stiff breeze and she'll roll right over. My wife says tell him to look out for ice bergs. :D :) |

Ohh How could I forget about my former work colleague.
She was some kind of waitress on of these cruise liners in the late seventies and the early eighties She told me alot about her work on her ship. I can't remember wich ship it was , but I do remember that they had a regular cruise between Southampton and New York. I once asked her if most of these fancy picture of passanger sitting in the dinning room and having a good time Yes the first 1-2 days of the journey. Then most of the passanger get seasick and sleeping pills and we that had to work got seasick pills Maybe she was right about that. Cause I have seen video were Queen Mary 2 is in the Atlantic during full storm and you can't feel it. Okey she was on the Atlantic in the late 70'ies and early 80'ies Her job was to clean rooms a.s.o Markus |
She must have soon gotten 'sick' of her work :03:

Her father was South African and her mother was from Sunderland which is only seven miles from where we live. It's amazing how many nationalities you come across in a ships personnel. |
@Jim
Only just picked up on this thread shipmate, head in the sand last few days :wah: Got to say..... Salute mon Kapitan. Thats one hell of a good looking lad you have, and one enormous ship, geezus don't they look top heavy these days! Good on your missus for wanting that cruise with you all together :up: If someone tries to book any free weeks that may come up in the future, give me a shout. Apparently I have a little Sicilian in the family :stare:........ ;) Best regards. Fubar2Niner |
Back from work and the internet is working again...so on to Monday 4th and the tour and meal.
Here she is at the Commissioners Quay on the north bank of the Tyne. She is 285 metres long and the car park is obviously longer in length with very few cars, meaning any motorist entering the car patk (which is free) can park just about anywhere they want. I've posted that information for a very good reason as you will realise soon. http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/4985/img0213wc.jpg http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/9485/img0214vj.jpg On with the tour....the entertainment theatre. http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/6561/img0224vg.jpg http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/9476/img0225ku.jpg Out on one of the boat decks and we meet the guy we saw earlier on the bridge wing....Nick, a deck cadet from Sweden...he does his watch with James on 8pm till midnight http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/290/img0239aw.jpg My daughter Lauren doing her Titanic impersonation at the bow of the ship http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/7530/img0243po.jpg The buna family http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/762/img0248lm.jpg The bow looking down from the bridge http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/867/img0255gg.jpg The starboard bridge wing http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/2066/img0257yt.jpg The glass floor viewpoint (I wouldn't stand on it LOL) http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/9733/img0258pz.jpg James showing us the master emergency panels at the rear of the bridge http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/9413/img0259sf.jpg http://img862.imageshack.us/img862/2379/img0260ro.jpg The ships wheel (smaller than the one on my car) http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/5112/img0261nc.jpg Explaining to his sister how to steer a steady course LOL http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/1029/img0262zh.jpg The quick refernce LCD navigation map http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/1781/img0266ti.jpg His day office where he works out the navigation routes in advance (2 ports ahead) http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/3972/img0268ynb.jpg The gymnasium http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/1093/img0272xe.jpg http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/8476/img0273oi.jpg http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/5827/img0275blf.jpg A hydropool http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/9958/img0276yt.jpg |
