I love Chrome. Fast, simple, no annoying tool bars or anything else.
Just straight up browsing. And the pop up blocker is pretty good. |

I use IE. I'm dumb as a box of rocks. Many on this forum prove that day after day.

My big problem with IE is that it did not and probably still does not comply with the WC3 standard. Microsofts attempt to subvert this standard has been a real pita for me over the years, I am retired now but it still rankles.
Oh and I mostly use FF and IE (but only when I really have to) Cheers Garion |
It's all very well linking the wiki page that shows IE on top, but IE comes (or came) as the default browser and only some (pick a number between 1-20) percent of people actually know that they could choose another browser. And a lot of corporate systems will be (or should be) locked as to not allow users to install their own flavour or browser. Then you get the old 'but I use it at work' line. So I'm not say IE users are dumb, but the majority are either unaware, lazy or scared. Those that have tried others, and returned to IE then that's okay, you've made an informed decision.
Maybe the question should be something like: If you are relatively competent at downloading and installing software, and are fully aware of the options available, what internet browser would you use? Myself, I've used all the usual suspects, and FF is the one I've got along with the best (but I've still had some issues), IE took too long to introduce tabbed browsing, and along with Opera and Chrome I just had 'uncomfortable' feelings using. Looking at another graph on that wiki page, FF usage has stay pretty stagnant in the last three years, with IE going from almost 70% to 40% of the market share. Google's Chrome being the most improving. I use Dolphin on my phone, it's okay but am open to suggestions for a replacement. :D |

My opinion is that everyone uses what they use because they're happy with it and see no need to change. All the arguments for or against are just excuses to keep using the one we like. |
IE 9 is not bad I actually enjoyed IE 9 for a few days, then thought it was a load of sh*t by day 3 and went back to Opera and FF. Besides two browsers is enough for me no need for a 3rd.

Lets just say that browser war is the best thing that happened to IE.
I remember the win95/98 times when IE was pile of crap and then Netscape appeared with fast light and secure browser. Nowadays i tried chrome which i did not like at all. FF is good but i just cant be bothered with it. IE has come long way and there is no benefit for me in using FF. Still its good that the competition exists. I use opera with my Nokia c7 which is best mobile browser for symbian. |
Lol, the only thing I remember about Nutscrape is how quickly I uninstalled it from the first couple of computers I owned. :haha:

As ive hinted at a few times over the years. I work for an internet secruity corp. I use multiple web browsers, every day as part of my job, on what i can honestly say is at, a professional level. At my work, internally, the shift away from Internet Explorer was done as was possible. We used it for years, but the fact of the matter is, using IE is like fitting a screen door on a submarine. It's just full of holes. Now the nice thing about chrome, is the built in translation tools. Which in my line of work, is very handy. Also ALL browsers will crash, but chrome seems to handle browser crash's exceptionally well. It doesn't always bomb out to the desk top. All told though, my personal favorite is Firefox 5.0 |
But seriously, I use IE. I see nothing wrong with it. Today I downloaded Chrome on my work computer so I could try it. I set all the bookmarks and such. It seems a bit faster. I see were it blocks malware and other crap looking to destroy your computer. I use FF at work as well because a few programs are designed to work on FF and not IE that I use daily. Other then that IE, Chrome, FF all seem the same to me because all I do is go to basically the same site daily. These site are not an issue for any browser I use.

Okay dokey... soo today im using IE, and it's not by choice.
Within 20 minutes ive seen stuff i haven't seen in years. Let me put it this way. IE has entirely too much access to windows. You know the security on IE suck's when you click on one site, and suddenly you multiple new tab spam popping up in an existing session of firefox. That's not a fault of firefox, that's IE having too much access to windows functionality, and it's that much easier to get a virus or trojan using IE. I'm sorry, but as someone who's used multiple varients of browsers over the years, i have only one thought. People still use IE? WOW. This browser is BAD. REALLY bad. Seriously, no offence, but in my opinion, anyone still running this crappy browser, may as well have filled out and signed DD Form ID-10-T. |
I used to use netscape all the time, then went to mozilla and now firefox. I never cared much for IE
