Congrats on sorting it out, when I get some free time I'll take a look at mine again and give it a tweak.

:yeah:

Basically all I did was open up the default profile (the one at the top that I assume mirrors whatever your Windows power mgmt profile is) and then run that services.msc again after a reboot.

Anything that was in the Fusion profile as a service it would either stop, start, or ignore, that Windows showed was either Automatic or had started up when I rebooted, I told Fusion to start up again when I re-activated that profile. Only time will tell if there's something else that I'll suddenly find I need that didn't get restarted.

Just tweaked my settings and everything seems to be working well...

Smart Profiles enabled for each profile,
sh3.exe added to the exception list (strange as that may be),
and the Fusion Utility (in services.msc) set to automatic.

Nice to have it running off the trigger!

BTW, if you activate the AMD Balanced profile it restarts Aero automatically. Or, if you want to set another profile to do it, you can go to the 'Software' tab then scroll down to Services Module and find the 'Desktop Window Manager' service. Change it to 'Start' and presto - Aero makes its triumphant return.

Thanks for providing the impetus to get this ironed out. Good working with you! :salute:

The only thing I don't like is that exiting the game doesn't cause Fusion to revert you back to the profile you were running before you launched it, which apparently has to be done manually...

Still playing with my configuration, (brace yourself for another workaround :O:), but here's what I've come up with so far.

I noticed one of the things Fusion shuts down in gaming mode is my AV. Obviously I want it back once the session is over and I want it back as painlessly as possible.

With this in mind, I made a copy of my default profile, (AMD Balanced in my case) and then enabled Smart Profiles and added the AV .exe as a trigger and an exemption. Next I changed the priority under the Smart Profiles tab to 1 while leaving the game's at 0 (the highest).

This I found was necessary to make sure the already active AV didn't block the transition to the gaming profile.

Once this is setup, you can simply place a shortcut to your AV on the desktop and then click on it as soon as the game ends to 'automatically' revert back to your default system configuration.

No need to open Fusion, no muss no fuss just a simple click to undo.

Last but not least, I've used my AV as an example here, but obviously any shortcut to any .exe will also suffice. Whatever you happen to use most frequently will do the trick.

Hopefully this helps ease a little of the sting in having to do it 'manually'... :sunny:

I will have to check again to be sure but I don't think the Gaming profile shuts down my AV, at least when I activated while watching services/processes none of AVG's stuff seemed to blink off. Will have to activate the profile and open the AVG console I guess to make doubly sure. As my internet connection is always on the last thing I want is for the AV to shut down.

What I should probably do is set Internet Explorer as the trigger to re-activate the default profile, since inevitably the first thing I do after exiting the game is come straight here. :O:

It's a shame Fusion lacks the function of simply reversing the changes made by a given profile as soon as the "trigger" .exe is no longer running. I have other programs that will do that - Display Changer, for instance, will force a change to desktop resolution as soon as a designated .exe file starts running, but then change it back as soon as the designated app shuts down. If you can program Fusion to start services at the click of a button, I don't see any reason why it couldn't have been designed to do that automatically when the trigger app stops running.

Good to begin organizing themselves to you, it .... seems to be a perpetual topic of this, soon you can start picking the fruits from the tree, :hmmm:

Agreed...

Perhaps in a future version. I think I'll drop them an email to that effect. Certainly can't hurt. :yep:
