I partly agree. That compass is actually taken from an older mod that removes everything from the screen unless you pass the cursor over it, and the original had all three dials do that:

It's not really a must-have, but something like that would be nice.

Sorry to interrupt again but I am still getting crashes in Museum after applying the patch. This is very frustrating! I'd happily spend more time on Monsun if only it was more stable on my setup. Any other ideas about what's wrong?

MaddogK 03-19-11 02:59 PM

Don't go there.
;)
IIRC the OM docs state that the museum will die. I've read a few have good luck with the memory patch for windows. Its in the library, under game patches.

Unpatched my SH4.exe crashes in OM every time and often when starting patrol from inside harbour. Both issues are warned against by Lurker.
The patched SH4.exe never crashes under any circumstances...

Using Win 7 64-bit, 6 GB RAM, 5970, non-OC.

@iambecomelife:
If you run your Window's Reliability and Trouble Log, what do you see?
Have a look here, may be helpful with a hint: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...7&postcount=11

Sorry for the OT... :D

For the guys working on the radio mod, I uploaded the Sh3Gen Standing Orders. If you're interested that is.

link

These operational orders were made from Hans Abbadons Aotd U-Boaters Guide, with additional research by Brad Golding, he put a lot of work in this.

Every file in the subfolders conatins a single operational order, german and english versions, with year and date. It may be a bit of work to copy the text, but doable. I don't know if I will find time to put them into a flat file.

Of course you have my "permission" to use them :)

Credits should go to Hans Abbadon (original version), Brad Golding (Sh3Gen updated version), and Georg Unterberg (german translator).

RE museum crash:
Three guesses:

1.) The game is trying to instantiate two objects that have the same node ID's.
2.) A ship is missing a rec manual page.
3.) Risidual/empty directory left over from a previous mod installation.

No kiddin, the rec manual will do that ? Will it also crash the museum if a page exists in the manual for a ship but the ship doesn't exist ?

Mmm...nice guess Ducimus. There was indeed an empty folder in \Data\Sea on my install, NFF_RiverClass.

The museum was crashing for me (Win7, x64, 5gigs ram) so I took out that empty folder and pasted it somewhere else. I then tried to launch the museum and low and behold it worked!

But...as a test I pasted the empty NFF_RiverClass back to \Data\Sea, fully expecting the museum to start crashing again and strangely it still worked.

So now I'm confused. No matter what I do I can't get it to crash again. Oh well...

If you have the same empty folder in your install and your museum is crashing, try the same thing I did and see what happens. It's worth a shot.

Just noticed this thread -- kinda old, is anyone still working on improving OM?

Or improving OM & releasing updates idea completely dead now?

Hi. I plan on releasing a Traveller Mod version for OM, including a few special other features. I really think the U-boat side of SH4 has been badly neglected. :nope:

Oh yeah. :yep:

I have a long list of things from all the SH3 supermods plus other things I would love to see in SH4. I've said so many times, including this thread.

This better be good, because OM/OMEGU is a very good supermod. Because it is in the SH4 game, I believe it is underplayed and under appreciated. It will be interesting to see your mods.

The most frequent weather here is clear sky and 15m waves, with very few rainy days. And to sail the whole December in Northern Atlantic without seeing a cloud or a drop of rain is an immersion killer IMO.

Yes, I like OM+OMEGU very much, but the weather is for me an immersion killer too.

Traveller, do you sleep/work? You have been pumping out (quality) mods about every other day for the past several weeks. I just wanted to say "BRAVO ZUZU", your efforts are appreciated.
