She only seems unbeatable, but that is only due to the fact that often she fights unarmed opponents here. :D

Hey! I resemble that remark!

I'll join in and bring my chainsaw! Due to the British defence cuts the scene from above can't happen anymore!

Well people who practice martial arts in essence are building up their mind as a weapon. The greatest weapon is not the limbs or the sword but the mind of the one who wields them. It's more about philosophy than combat. But of course many practice martial arts for its practicality but I guess these would not count as true warrior. What define a warrior is their mind not merely their skill.

Just my 2 cents anyway.

One of my favorite movies ever. Probably my favorite martial arts film, right up there with Kung Fu Panda. I have odd tastes in martial arts film, lol.

Obviously I think they're both very funny, which I enjoy - but I find they also capture something else that is vital on a spiritual/psychological level, which often gets missed in other "chop-socky" films. And I don't think I expected that from either film, so it was doubly impressive.

Or even made by a Japanese sword master craftsman? That could cost considerable money.

Katana is simply the sharpest edge of a blade ever made by man. Really cool weapon. I admire Japanese medieval armors and weapons. Those people at the time were really obsessed with their craftsmanship.

Nope, I just have the wooden one - a real, proper katana would be outrageously expensive, and I don't think I'd want one that wasn't made the traditional way.

I do have a big Shun (kitchen) knife, one of their selling points (and they are not cheap either, when it comes to fine cutlery) is that the same process is used to forge their blades as was/is used for the making of traditional katana blades, and supposedly they are made to the same high standards of quality. I can tell you the blade is a thing of beauty, and boy is it sharp. You could cut the end of a finger off with that thing and not even know it until you wondered why your broccoli was bleeding.

As do I. One of my all-time favorite movies of any genre is Circle of Iron (aka The Silent Flute), hardly an example of great filmmaking.

A fairly mediocre movie, but the cameos (Eli Wallach, Christopher Lee, Roddy MacDowell) and the repartee make it fun.

:hmmm: Ahem- I surmise that if the weapon was blunt, and in the hands of unskilled opponent, any impact upon my cranium would quickly cause a severe, albeit temporary cessation of cognitive and conscious psychological activity in my cerebral cortex. :yep: Frau Kaleun? I know no one of that nomenclature, if the wit you speak of is to be investigated you need not offer your advice . I deduce that by adopting an entirely defensive stance it will be possible for me to avoid verbal injury and thus remain in a vertical position for sufficient period in order to secure any fiscal reward that may be in offer to me? if it is apparent that this said persons grasp of the naitive language is at best somewhat fundamental I will lower the ante and communicate in a manner best suited to said members coloquial conversational stance. Ahem I ve come about the challenge matey!! :salute:

Oh yes I agree....don't remember what it cost but it certainly isn't all that sharp.

An ability to look up and use big words does not equal mastery of the language, nor does it have anything to do with a battle of wits. The Frau is indeed a master, and her witty weapon is very sharp indeed.

Aaah I see you already found your next kata weapon :D

However I'd suggest the following knife instead

Exactly because they're so blunt, they hurt a lot more :O:

Especially if thrown. Getting beaned by the handle would really hurt.

By the same token I've always considered a dinner plate, thrown like a frisbee, to be an ideal home-defense weapon.

Depends on what is on the plate... some things served on them might violate the BWC... :hmmm:
