Let me say that those music packs have a big part of WW2 music with different kinds of music (not just military songs).
For those who didn`t found it yet, the file is in the SH3 Oggvorbis5 folder that can be downloaded here:

My dad ran what was called the Mosquito Network during WW II. It was the forerunner of American Forces Radio and Television Service. He started out with a small radio station on Guadalcanal and ended up broadcasting from Luzon in the Philippines.

GRRRRR!

I saw the above and thought IŽd add music to my sumbie's gramophone.

I search for folder, find it. right click to open, get a data folder, try to open it and it converts into cnf with a few career folders inside.

I have WIN 7.

If someone can help this ignosaurus, it would be apreciated.

What folder did you search for? If "SH3" you might've been directed to the SH3 folder in My Documents, which just stores your career files and savegames.

The Gramophone folder you want is inside your SH3 game folder, that's where all the game's "guts" are.

Do a search for a file named 'sh3.exe' and whatever folder that file is in, should be your game folder.

Then you want the Gramophone folder that's in there:

[Game Folder]\data\Sound\Gramophone

That would be where you put the sound files that you want to play on the gramophone in the game.

Frau K
Thanks for the quick reply. No luck, the moment I place the period, the search fails.

Could be because I have a Spanish keyboard, but the perios is the same for all languages

Well, if you let the game install to its default location, it should be in your program files, usually on the C: drive unless you have some kind of multi-drive setup and directed it to a different hard drive.

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter III\data\Sound\Gramophone

would be the default location, if I remember correctly.

found one file but it does not seem to be the right one, it has the mission editor.
A sound acct file for a few KB

And the search ends after programs

frau kaleun 04-01-11 05:35 PM

Just double click on My Computer and then on your C: drive to see the contents of the drive, there should be a folder called Program Files, if you did the default installation of the game the game folder will be in there as noted above.

Or just "Computer" in Win7, I think they changed it.

Many thanks, Frau. Been shaking down the C drive there is only one Ubi file. Will leave it for another day. Aaarrgghh. :dead:

I wonder if this has anything to do with Win7 being so "protective" of program files and stuff... I have all that UAC business turned off, and have changed permissions on a lot of directories so I can work with all the files/folders that are in them, or at least see what's there if I need to for some reason. So I don't know how overly protective it might be of your game installation if it is in the Program Files directory and all the default security settings are in place.

When I open the SHIII folder, I get a lot of files, a lot prefixed BJ, a number of Balz, but nothing with data or sound. Very different from what I remember in XP.

I think I need the help of a WIN 7 expert genious. I think I have identified some career files. Naval Academy and mission editor keep popping up. Anyway, over a thousand files. :damn:
