That's kind of what I had figured. Cannot recall a time where my granddad didn't wear it, except maybe on camping or hunting trips. These days I don't wear colognes or aftershave, even for formal occasions.

Actually, it didn't smell that bad :hmmm:

I have an original unused bottle of that Hai Karate with box and directions just as pictured. :D

FIREWALL 07-17-10 04:09 PM

I'm in my early 40tys and after a barbershop shave I still like the talc and Bay Rum aftershave. :DL

Before I retired I enjoyed a weekly manicure too. :yep:

Platapus 07-17-10 05:37 PM

Bay Rum is a classic for very good reasons.

And all this time I thought you were older than me. :rotfl2:

I wonder where I got that idea from? :hmmm:

I'm pretty sure someone gave my dad a bottle of it back when it first came out.

I'm also pretty sure it was still sitting unopened in a bathroom cabinet 25 years later. He probably kept it because it made him chuckle just to see it sitting there. :D

It took almost forty years but I finally trained people to not give me scents of any kind. I could open a shoppe!

I find that far too many people use far too much scent. It makes me wonder just how bad they smell that they need to use so much you can actually taste it on your tongue like a lizard!

Ladies. I want my nose to be teased with subtle wafts, not eye tearing onslaughts that make you fear lighting a match!

Just sayin'.

I think it was made to make people cringe. The guy in the ad is an 80's comedian known for taking the mickey out of himself.

Ah, that makes more sense.
