scary threads!
:timeout: :timeout: :timeout: :timeout: :88) |
At this point in time?
I contact anyone I believe has the drive, or knowledge, to share for a common goal. I've contacted RAD Games, I've contacted Dan, I've bothered Neal, I've looked into money for Independent Development Teams. I exchange thoughts and ideas with everyone I can think of. I started a new forum and posted here at SubSim about that. I send invites to people most would believe I hate! I have few lines I will not cross to try to drive a positive movement. I don't suck up to people mind you. But I respect even those I may have had exchanges with. Rockin Robins and I have had many exchanges. We like one another because we RESPECT each other. And we agreed to disagree. I value that type approach. When will the rest of this Community get the simple fact that we stand together or we fall together? |
You forgot the 'I don't give a damn' option!
We'll get one eventually, you just have to be patient, the game is still playable in its current state. |

But really, Ubisoft has been totally out of contacts for MONTHS. They deserve this kind of bashing if only for that. They've fully explained DRM time and time again. They haven't explained why there's apparently no support at all for Silent Hunter. Patch 1.2 was barely mentioned, a month late and we only knew that because we translated the German forums, when it finally came out there's been no response to feedback and the problems still broken in the patch. Basically Ubisoft hasn't said word one to us since the game came out. That's utterly unacceptable. It's now been another month since the patch came out (the patch isn't even listed on ubisoft.com btw...) and the silence still stands. Sure Dan's posted here or there at SubSim, but NO ONE from Ubisoft has posted on their main official forums and Dan's posts here have been little more than "oh yeah" and "that's neat" type posts, nothing official that he's stated, and I wouldn't expect him to have to. He's here as a friend of the site, not an official Ubisoft rep. The total lack of communication from Ubisoft is just appalling. I've thrown down the gauntet to them on their forums and got a response from one of their forum managers, the only tenuous contact we have with the company, and she's said she'll try to get an answer to my question of: Yes, there will be at least one more patch or No, Silent Hunter is over and unsupported as of now. That Yes/No answer is the bare minimum that we customers deserve from Ubisoft and will help determine the direction of modding and the end goal of SH5. If they say Yes, maybe we can get some things like minefields fixed. If they say No, work can begin on trying to add those things to the game and working on a new full war campaign can begin. Privateer definitely has the right attitude, but without knowing if anything more is coming from Ubisoft we're just left too much in the dark. |
I choose not to wait for another patch.
I'll do what I can now and fix things later if the need arises. I'll also state here and now, I'll be looking into other options. Dll hooks and such. The saying goes, If it ain't broken? Don't fix it. SH5 does not follow this saying! It's broken! If it was a Dog we'd shoot it! |

Silent Hunter series, mortally wounded by self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Oh! Wait! That's the OTHER thread. :haha: |
Why even complain about it? We all bought this piece of crap game, we're all suckers. I personally am never buying another UBI game again, for any system. That's my decision- nothing can recoup my poor judgment on the sunk cost of this particular "finished" product. But I sure as hell can decide never to support this company in any future endeavours.
If they are "done" with the sub genre, good riddance. I'll take my modded games and be perfectly fine. Glad UBI got out before they churned out a SH6 which was a complete transition into a "virtual life" game that their poorly trained consumer insights/marketing department seems to believe will be profitable. |
No, not everyone bought the game. Quite a few of us hesitated upon hearing of the DRM and lack of general feedback of the progress.
We're just here because we love the francise and what could have been. |
Be optimist !
For me there will have another patch for three reasons:
1/ Silent Hunter V finished in 1943. 2/ There is only the classe VII in this first game. 3/ Ubi Soft knows there is a very important community of gamers all around the world ! Alban |
