I'm hoping he just cleans it up, maybe even delete the entire thread as no Easter Eggs have been found but the French seem to be the main topic. Yes I'm just as guilty as I was the first poster ( after Neal ) and wise cracked with the plate of Easter Eggs. Still this thread is a mess. :arrgh!: |
But if he cleans up the thread how are we going to continue bashing the French?

That's the sort of thing that gets put out as historical way too often. |
You know it's really funny because we make fun of the french in my country too. Mind you a lot of that has to do with Quebec wanting to runaway to be their own country.

One mustn't always underestimate the French though, their soldiers fought valiantly against the Germans but were somewhat let down by their leaders and outdated tactics, Reynaud pretty much gave up after the breakthrough at Sedan. If the French and BEF forces had withdrawn south immediately after the breakthrough then it would have been possible to set up a new defence line on the border between France and Belgium and hold off the German advance for longer than the historical event. Unfortunately, a combination of the surprise of the breakthrough and poor communications (or in Billottes case, a complete lack of communication) meant that the window of opportunity closed before the BEF and French forces were able to act and by the 19th May the dash to the coast began, Abbeville was taken and the BEF, French and Belgian forces isolated in what would become the Dunkirk pocket. BTW, hello to a fellow Anglian :salute: :yeah: |
Why does Nike like the French Army?
Because, in war time, they are the biggest buyers of running shoes. |
I cannot agree in which it is said in this thread about the French and the action of his I exercise in the IIWW. in the first place I mean that the problem of France was not the value of its soldiers but the political cupola (Dadalier, Reynaud, Mandel) and military cupola (Gamelin, Weygand, Pétain etc) the government was a disaster, the Generals were old woman controls installed in the static war (Maginot Line), across it faces have a Rommel, Guderian etc, anything that to do; French, Belgians, Poles, English, and Canadian went to would bathe in Dunkirk. On the extrangera, serious Legion French interesting to know it before to speak; not only delinquent they are listed, are welded of elite, first in entering into combat. Here in Spain also we have Legion and are valiant soldiers who they are deserved all our respect, its motto is:" we are fiances of the death"
