I fully agree that us americans have a very single minded view point of history, but thats history its written by the winners, and to be honest it was Russia who won world war two, they defeated germany period.:salute:

It was a team effort, by all concerned. If Britain had not held out, there would have been no way for the Americans to enter the ETO. Without this threat from the West, Hitler would have been able to divert the rest of his forces East, against the Russians. If this had happened, it may have resulted in a Soviet defeat, and then history would be very, very different.

As I´ve been reading lately, I saw a post saying that there are many crap left from the previous games in SH5 (so much for house cleaning :stare:)
Maybe the ghost ship is in SH5 as well? :hmmm:

Id love to sail with my "dynamic fully modeled chaty homesick crew" and suddenly:

watchcrew 1 - Ship spotted sir!
WO - Where?!? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...........??????????
Me - WHOOT?!? WTF is that?!?
Bernard - Not my fault her Kaleun! I swear!!!

Hum you know actually everyone in France do give credit to the Belgians for the fries. It's one of their stereotypical meals. The French have no idea whatsoever of the reason why the English-speaking world would give them credit for fries (just like "French toast" isn't especially French), although as far as I remember, the "French" in "French fries" may come from some old English that got mistreated along the years.

Well I guess it all depends on the kind of TV you have at your disposal. Being French, my advice to my fellow citizens wouldn't be "turn off the TV", but rather "stop watching the wrong channel and check channel 5 for anglo-american documentaries in the daytime and French-German cultural channel in the evening, dumbass!". Well, it's not like if we had more than 6 channels, dammit! :damn:

Looks like Neal needs to start a new Easter Egg thread to sticky :O:

Maybe the complete features are the Easter Eggs.

They'll just be patched in on April 4th.

I'm hoping he just cleans it up, maybe even delete the entire thread as no Easter Eggs have been found but the French seem to be the main topic.

Yes I'm just as guilty as I was the first poster ( after Neal ) and wise cracked with the plate of Easter Eggs. Still this thread is a mess. :arrgh!:

Wreford-Brown 03-06-10 05:51 PM

But if he cleans up the thread how are we going to continue bashing the French?

U-571

That's the sort of thing that gets put out as historical way too often.

You know it's really funny because we make fun of the french in my country too. Mind you a lot of that has to do with Quebec wanting to runaway to be their own country.

Bingo, that's the key to it.
One mustn't always underestimate the French though, their soldiers fought valiantly against the Germans but were somewhat let down by their leaders and outdated tactics, Reynaud pretty much gave up after the breakthrough at Sedan. If the French and BEF forces had withdrawn south immediately after the breakthrough then it would have been possible to set up a new defence line on the border between France and Belgium and hold off the German advance for longer than the historical event. Unfortunately, a combination of the surprise of the breakthrough and poor communications (or in Billottes case, a complete lack of communication) meant that the window of opportunity closed before the BEF and French forces were able to act and by the 19th May the dash to the coast began, Abbeville was taken and the BEF, French and Belgian forces isolated in what would become the Dunkirk pocket.

BTW, hello to a fellow Anglian :salute: :yeah:

Why does Nike like the French Army?

Because, in war time, they are the biggest buyers of running shoes.

I cannot agree in which it is said in this thread about the French and the action of his I exercise in the IIWW. in the first place I mean that the problem of France was not the value of its soldiers but the political cupola (Dadalier, Reynaud, Mandel) and military cupola (Gamelin, Weygand, Pétain etc) the government was a disaster, the Generals were old woman controls installed in the static war (Maginot Line), across it faces have a Rommel, Guderian etc, anything that to do; French, Belgians, Poles, English, and Canadian went to would bathe in Dunkirk. On the extrangera, serious Legion French interesting to know it before to speak; not only delinquent they are listed, are welded of elite, first in entering into combat. Here in Spain also we have Legion and are valiant soldiers who they are deserved all our respect, its motto is:" we are fiances of the death"
greetings

Funny comment coming from someone whose country decided to adopt a French as a ruler. I suppose you must be a good bunch of track & field champions up there too, is it so?
