Sorry but what is the difference between the periscope and the fairing?

A periscope fairing is the teardrop shaped thing that goes around the periscope to reduce drag and help prevent damage to the scope itself.

Ahh OK I get what you mean, so for example on the 688i mod its the, for lack of a better description.. white tear shaped area before the actual scope head with the random black splotches? One last thing, what are these splotches used for :s?

Those random splotches are camouflage.

Ahh ok makes sense :) I always thought the black splotches were part of the photonic masts.. then I remembered only Seawolf and Virginias have those :haha:

Actually only the Virginia has the new photonics masts if I remember correctly. They may have added them to the Seawolf class.
