oh no they have taken out the trailer with the
german voices too.
the long version was much better, even with
the cook.
they must have taken it too seriously:hmmm:

Sailor Steve 12-20-09 12:04 PM

Well that's depressing. The German one felt so much better.:sunny:

The biggest change in the trailer is the title. When the first trailer came out it was a big blue (and pretty ugly) Silent Hunter name. Now they've made it slimmer and added the Battle of the Atlantic name. I think they took out the cook because you all complained so much. I loved the original trailer, especially in german, but they should've made english subtitles for it.

But...where the hell is the emergency dive bell?? :hmmm:
I only hear the same kind of siren sound used on American boats!

I hope the will change this... U boats had a bell (remember sh3??)

having all these hatches stay open was done in order to allow you to be able to go through it and it wasnt changed for GQ because other things have greater priority so im not that upset over it, im sure a mod will fix it

I disagree with you.
Think... if you see a trailer in spain, russian or chinese version (or other exotic language for you) with English subtitles - do you buy this game? You - maybe.
And now - does an 'ordinary' american kid buy this game? I think not.

Sorry, my American friends for these bitter words - but true is that US is the largest game market, and all developers think mainly about "ordinary american kids". (Do you remember tragic 'americanish japanese' language in Battlestation Pacific? - this was disaster for me.)

But... this is 'only' a trailer - and must be 'unfortunately' political correctly.

Absolutely correct , but they could have had a german language alternative one .

English is still the Universal language though.
And most Germans do speak English and You yourself write in English...so your point is what?

Most Germans speak english? Uhm no they dont. I live in the netherlands near the german border and yes most dutch people speak english but most germans dont speak a word of english.

i really dont see why they cant follow the example of movies where they use english speaking germans so they have the german accents but speak english so i can understand them.

i forget who it was but i agree with the guy who wants to know why english speaking german crew sound like they are americans

In SH2 they did exactly that. People complained because real u-boat crews didn't speak English with German accents, they spoke German.

The reason they did it for SH3 is because they knew (or hoped) that they would be doing American boats in SH4, and didn't want to have to do the English speaking twice. Why they didn't put German voices back in UBM, I don't know.

I'm certain they'll have German voices in SH5. As to the English option (if there is one) being American-accented? I'm hoping that their thinking is there will be a fleet-boat version later, and again this way they'll already have those voices done.

im going by the trailers i've seen so far appear to be using the sh4 american voices for the english version and im hoping the finished sh5 english version has german accents

The devs said that the game will ship with a german language version but i doubt with a german accent version . Would be good though .

rik007 12-20-09 11:51 PM

There will be a German voice package:

Will more realistic sounds be used for the ships and subs? Also will we finally have the function to change the crew’s voices to German (instead of relying on mods)?

Yes. There will be new sounds, true surround effects, and a German voice pack distributed with the game.
