Combined with previews that insist that the action will be in the Atlantic and Mediterranean (no Pacific mentionned), maybe we'll actually be getting some British subs? :ping:

or maybe we'll get escort duty in a tin can, being the DD vs the sub?

Do any of you honestly think that if it was a 2 theater game that would NOT be listed in the features? Do you honestly think that if we were able to command a DD at any point it would NOT be listed in the features?

There is always alot of speculation after a SH game announcement, but the imagination going into some of these for SH5 is just incredible... I just read one by someone that wants to have to swim away from sharks after abandoning ship.... :damn::doh:

Permit me to join you in that hope/wish :DL

I am a bit worried about this..
First: I like u boats and I want u boats, nothing else...but I realize that some people may disagree..
Second: detailed representation of german u boats needs a lot of hard work...adding an equally modeled british sub (or american/soviet whatever) will double the workload for devs...which often results in a poor result.

I prefer excellent U boats and only U boats than good U boats and poorly made allied subs...

You may be in for a suprise then.....consider the possibility of both German and Allied units fitting into the 'excellent' category. http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...ies/pirate.gif

Yes, I really hope so...but the fact is that given x amont of time and x amount of money, the less you have to do the better it will be done. It's not a rule, of course, but I know that if you put more and more work into a project it is unlikely that everything will result "excellent"..they have to deal with funds/time at their disposal.

I only hope you are correct.:)

Or what if....You could play German surface units! Convoy hunting would have a whole new meaning in Der Scharnhorst up by Norway.

Wishfull thinking I know But I have never understood why this excellent Game engine was not produced into a full blown naval simulator of WWII.

Probably because the Royal Navy would bring the game to a swift conclusion :smug:

It would seem that getting the uboats right is enough of a challenge.
If that happens, I'll be more than content.

both sides...

Well the only way I will buy it is if I can play the allied side.. I am one of those that will not play the 'other side'. Call it what ever you will but I never play the side of evil or those against the 'good side'.. whether it be RPG, war sims or elsewise. If it is only playable as the axis against the allies then I will pass.

And here I am wishing more games would let me play as the bad guys... That includes ww2 games. I'm not a nazi or anything, but after so many games behind me, it's just dull to play as the good guys all the time. also, I like the german (and russian) weapons more(guns, tanks, planes, subs, etc.).

Anyway, sinking a merchant, or any other ship for that matter, is the same no matter which side you're on. It's not like you have to hail hitler to your monitor or anything.

This game is pretty straight forward. And it feels like there's never any progress and that your actions mean nothing. Besides, you still lose the war.:yeah:

If anybody is interested in this sparse genre, they shouldn't let some abstract notions get in the way of having some fun.

ps. If they ever let us play a different side again, I hope it's not in the Pacific. I think the Pacific is boring as hell.

I like playing subs in my bath tub. I sunk 3 rubber duckys last night.

More fun to be had in German subs, I always loved running through the English Channel in SH3.

Allied surface ship campaign would be great, plus it would work for multiplayer.
