1. Lone destroyers out on patrol.
2. Tankers of any kind. They light up so pretty.

sharkbit 09-12-12 09:15 PM

Anything unescorted and unarmed. :arrgh!:

If I had to choose- Whale Factory ships.

Black Swan class. Keep running into them around the Eastern ports of Britain in my current campaign. Name sounds cool and since its early 1940 in the campaign it's a bit scarier then the average V&W.

Just got pinged by sonar for the first time by one in a Brit port. He was wounded in the front from a torp while coming straight at me. Shouldn't have been loading torpedos that close to a decent port. :know:

He eventually went past me wounded as I crept along. I fired off an aft shot at 700m. Boom! He stopped and his nose plunged, evened out for a bit, then the tail raised and my crew shouted.

Was a good feeling. Then I sighted a Granville type freighter in front of me, lined up magnetic shots to go off at .5m under the boat and fired two torpedos. Both torpedos launched but the event cameras went away quick. Couldn't see trails in external.... Maybe I used electric was my first thought. I looked under water and my bow was probably two feet away from a GWX mine net. :timeout:

I just backed it up slow and called it even. Long post but fellow mine haters might enjoy.

I have to say battleships first, and a close second would be large tankers. I often risk my boat to get at them, launch every viable torpedo, then crash dive in a erratic patterns to avoid the inevitable depth charge response.

Nothing says appropriate like a 3 tube Salvo launched toward a sloop... :haha:

desertstriker 09-30-12 05:18 PM

any aircraft carrier battleships as a second

Cybermat47 09-30-12 07:38 PM

Small tankers of 3000 tons (This is from SH5, sorry)
There's just something about the way they sink!

TabbyHunter 09-30-12 09:20 PM

Large Merchants. And easy 10k for the logs, but if I ever spot a whale factory,...I swear I'll put every torpedo I have into it.

Edit. Whaling is just wrong, so I'd single a whale factory ship out even if a better target were to present itself.

Also, I've just come across the single ship I wish I had not. RMS Titanic (VonDos's). Some 46k tonnes...And I cannot fire on her.
