I'm looking to know from someone who has seen it or someone who knows where all the drains were located on the VIIb's turm (Turm7b_1_hd, the first turm, in the game). I have arbitrarily added them to the left, right, and rear of the Turm but not sure if those are the correct locations and/or the correct number of drains? Adding more drains at different positions, even new drain effects for a different look, is not hard to do I just want to make it historically correct as possible.
Here's what it looks like so far: http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...ins_3sid-1.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...ns_3sides_.jpg |
I'm not sure those holes are even real. Here is one shot without them:
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...sjpxqph1nh.jpg Links to some more, to save bandwidth: http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...oning011bs.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ve/u552_03.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ve/u552_07.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...titled61hm.jpg I have a bunch more like that, plus a few that do have the holes. If they are really drain holes then the water would certainly flow from all of them, but I suspect that, since the wintergarten deck has slots just like the main deck, water drains through the slots, down the hollow part of the conning tower and out the main scuttles in the sides. |
I suspect the majority of the water just drains out the back.
No need for drain holes in a tower that only has 3 sides. |
great info guys. So am I barking up the wrong tree here? Should I add them (conning drains) or take them away? Maybe tone them way down to show the sloshing water draining over the sides (that hasn't drained through the slots)? :hmm:

I imagined something like this:

ok, got it. I'll see what I can do  Good photoshopping BTW ;)
EDIT: Ok, got something working. It's not perfect (yet) but it's getting there..... http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e..._conning-1.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...conning_dr.jpg |
Oh, now that looks cool! Can't wait to see the finished product.

Yeah, that really is starting to look good!

I've finalized a 'look' for the VIIb Turm 1 (Turm7b_1_hd). All that's left to do is set the speed dependant items for each stream. At a standstill (0 knots speed) it looks marvelous (IMO) when surfacing. The major streams are the very forward ones on the left and right sides. They are draining the water that collected inside the conning tower. The little ones around the con are overflows and washovers. I'm digging those reflections :D

Type 7C dat file
Racerboy, have you read the post in this forum about the error in the NSS_Uboat7c.dat file in GWX2.1 and in Rubini's Water Stream Mod?
A mod was released today by Reece with the corrections to this file. I think it had something to do with the 168 node for reflection that was not needed. Will your final mod have a correction for the NSS_Uboat7c.dat file when it is released? |
GENIUS AT WORK!

Fantastic mod, Rubini!!!
