I have a question, when in the new F5 view mode, and moving the mouse, the mouse is very jerky.. jittery etc. Is this what everyone is getting or do I have a problem with this laser mouse?

Agreed-this is (another) great mod! My mouse is not jerky when in this mode. I switched back to a hardwired trackball type mouse some time ago as my wireless wasn't working well.

You are the second person who ask about "walking" on the other ships. I did not actually think someone wants to do that. The reason I did a collision-enabled camera for ">" and "<" views is because I hated going through the ships during AOD and SH2 times. But now I am starting to like the idea of walking on other ships. It should be possible to do it for ">" and "<" cameras and it will probably eliminate the bug I describe in the Readme.

In 1.0 and 1.1 you could get some fantastic screenshots from the decks of the Jap ships of the destruction you caused  For example putting the camera on the bridge of a DD and watching a carrier sink...

You see what the DD captain would, right before he unsheaths his wakizashi and commits seppuku to atone for his failure.

Or the viewpoint of a Jap deckhand on a crippled and abandoned freighter, crouching behind a pile of deck cargo and knowing the end is near, as your sub engages in some deck gun practice from 1000 yds.

Sadly that ability was lost in 1.2 :( If you can bring that back, it would be great

Nice. Does this mean we can walk the camera to a point on the bridge and stay in that spot?

Thanks:up:

John Channing 08-10-07 07:13 PM

You can walk the camera to the friggin bow and scream "KING OF THE WORLD" if you want!

This is very nice work...

Yes it's an awesome mod so thank you sergbuto, but I too find the F5 bridge view mode a bit jerky. Not only does my camera seem stuck in a loop when going forward (not backwards) so moving anywhere is anything but easy, but when I move the mouse it is as Vorkapitän said very jerky/jittery/shaky/etc. Once I get the camera to my destination, or close enough as I get tired of adjusting, it is stabile and it is nice to be able to get there, but while getting there I kind of feel like a drunken sailor, and combined with the living breathing ocean mod, well, it can easily become too much.  :D
By the way I'm using a wireless trackball, and this is the first time I've seen a problem like this.

Judging by the other responses it would seem that perhaps it is your system having an issue with this. I also have a track ball and the mod works flawlessly. Here are my specs:

AMD 3200+
2 gig DDR400
ATI X1300 512MB
onboard sound
track ball mouse. It is a wired trackball.

Perhaps there is a common denominator here in the mouse you two are using. I'm not sure.

Yes that may be so, but I know I did not have it before this mod, well, of course the problem might have been there before that as I couldn't move the camera around the way I can now so perhaps the problem was hidden. I do know however that with the old bridge view I had no problems when looking around me using the mouse. That said I've looked at the camera file myself and honestly can't see what could possibly explain this behavior in there, so it is too early to exclude or include anything. I doubt it's my system though.

Pentium 950D
Kingston HyperX 4 gig DDR2-800 (PC2-6400) (Only 3GB active in XP of course.)
ATI 1900XTX
Using the onboard sound on ASUS P5WD2-E Premium (Realtek HD)
wireless trackball mouse, but it acts the same with my wired Razer Copperhead Precision gaming mouse.
Using XP for this game, and in case it matters I'm playing in windowed mode.

sergbuto 08-11-07 08:14 AM

The mod uses standard SH4 controllers simiar to those used in a stock F11 view. Therefore, I am not sure what creates a problem for you but it works perfectly fine on my relatively outdated system with a regular mouse

Pentium 4, 1.8 Ghz
RAM 512 Mb
GeForce 7800GS 256 Mb

Thank you very much sergbuto

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ skt 939
Powercolor Radeon X800 256MB PCI-E
Kingston 2 gig DDR400
wired mouse = RAZER COPPERHEAD

Two things:

1) It is totally fantastic to be able to go wherever I want on the bridge

2) I'm also getting the "jerky" movement that others are mentioning, when panning left & right, or up & down with the mouse. Mouse is Logitech G5, this problem was not present before the mod, when using mouse to look around on the bridge.

One other thing I've noticed about the movement which I think lba may have hinted at:

Not sure what he meant by "loop", but when I use up-arrow to move forward, not only does the camera move forward, it also pitches up until I'm looking straight up in the sky. And when I use down-arrow to move backward, in addition to the camera moving back it also pitches down until I'm looking at the deck. If there was no limit on the vertical rotation, the camera would do a complete "loop" if I moved forward or back far enough!

I've got my hand totally off the mouse when this happens, so I don't think it's anything to do with the mouse. Anybody else experiencing anything like that?
