AA NOT SUPPORTED
No setting for it in game.
Setting AA in windows ATI driver results in game override with NO AA.

So NO AA folks.

Hi jace, not sure I hear of this also about forced FSAA but I personaly have gone to Nvidia card now and my euro mate who informed me is on Nvidia also.. I will do some google finger work and see if you can force Nvidia drivers to do FSAA within a game..

Im also informed that there is none of that post effects that you can handle with the page up and down keys in sh3 remember? You have some filter effect/film filter or something instead, but he's adiment ? spelt right? that it does not do the same as alleviating jaggies on edging... Wonder what card neal uses his screenies didnt seem to show jaggies to me, unless he was clever and took loads until the sub was rocking in the right place to cause straight lines lol. :P

Anyone else want to give feedback on this lot? insight etc..

cheers,

Moose.

Thanks Tin Soldier! From what I understan Anti-aliasing is pretty heavy on the old Graphic Card. Most people only have a 256MB Video Card, so I guess they didn't bother with AA. From some the screenshots I've seen, it barely needs it.

It still miffs me that they hold back releases to Make it fair for EU crowd. But low and Behold yet again We are Screwed by the Same EU Stores. Usually I read stuff like this on the monday or so. But being release 5-6 days before official release date. :damn:

The General 03-18-07 10:22 AM

Well, the US screens their films sometimes months before they release them to us lowly Europeans. So I guess a game developed in Europe gets released here first, sorry. Like J.T. says; what goes around, goes around, goes all the way back around. Sing!

Well, I think you'll be impressed when you see SH4 in action. It has better graphics than any sim of it's kind. If you're expecting Graphics by I.L.M. on something that costs 50 bucks, you're crazy! If they wanna sell alot of copies, they can't just cater to those who own water-cooled super computers like your good self.

I have the exact opposite opinion. lol

THe lack of FSAA is probably the first thing I noticed in the screenshots of this game. In a lot of screenshots, the game, IMO, just looks flat out not good.

The fact that SHIV can't use FSAA pisses me off.

I second that!
Its the exact opposite opinion to me too.
From every screenshot I have seen, it desperately needs AA.

If it is official that AA is not possible, SH4 is history for me.

Will it happen with SHIV here? I have no idea. But I do know one thing for sure....if the game is currently being installed by customers who have recieved their copies through legitimate means, then Ubisoft should most definately release every where. Now.

P.S. Thx, Donner. :)

you are correct!! it happens all the time in the states and not just games either.
music would be the leader in this catagory.

Been playing around with SH4 for an hour or so. Could have been more but my fiance wondered where the heck i was. Even though she joined me at the store to buy the game. She is just too wonderful
Regarding AA, IMHO the game needs to support it. Its quite bad in 1280X1024 even 1600X1200. Steel wires on subs and ships sometimes disappear due to the "stair case or step" effect of no AA.
However on the plus side, the game runs really smooth in the above mentioned resolutions.
Interior rocking camera is still there, I had my doubts that it had gone by watching the videos available online.

Its not standard if the game supports HDR. Most mainstream cards cannot do HDR and AA.

Unless I'm mistaken and some of the newer Vista DX10 cards can, the only thing capable of HDR+AA at the same time is the Xbox 360.

Oblivion doesn't use AA because it uses HDR instead which is far superior!

But if SH4 doesn't have HDR then yes, please give us AA !!!

This happened with EA once. When the game Godfather came out Wal-Mart released it a week and a half early. So when I was casually walking through the game section like I do when I visit. I saw it and grabbed it quickly and quietly. I had some graphic issues with the game so I called EA after I registered the game online. The tech support said I shouldn't even have the game and they didn't have any documentation on the game yet to help me. So I had to call back a week later.
