Town class, thats right Town class. Why? Cause they always seem to ram me at 36 knots.

Tobus 03-05-07 02:50 AM

Not the type, but the instances.

- the one I didn't see coming because I was calculating my next shot on a merchant

- the ones that gang up on me, with one keeping asdic contact and others taking their turns in pounding the sh*t out of me.

You're right, he lost his youngest son in a U-Boat, and ultimately lost both of his children. From the excellent and concise article on Wikipedia:

"Both of Dönitz's sons died during World War II. His younger son, Peter, was a watch officer on U-954 and was killed on 19 May 1943, when his boat was sunk in the North Atlantic with the loss of its entire crew. After this loss, the older brother, Klaus, was allowed to leave combat duty and began studying to be a naval doctor. Dönitz lost Klaus almost a year after Peter died, on 13 May1944. Klaus convinced his friends to let him go on the fast torpedo attack boat S-141 for a raid on HMS Selsey off the coast of England on his twenty-fourth birthday. The boat was destroyed and Klaus died, even though six others were rescued."

With any of them, if they are coming straight at me on their first pass, I fear none, BUT if I miss then I fear all of them

Definitely the one that's circling over my head at the moment since quite some time, can't shake him off (was assigned an AN 18 patrol and this is shallow water - can't dive deeper than 70m). As I play without external cam, I didn't have the time to identify her clearly when I started my crash dive... And the bad news is that my hydrophone operator just gave the info another one was coming our way, probably called by his buddy...
And it's a story from greed again... spotted a nice freighter but could not catch up submerged. Although it was a bright day I thought I could get away with a fast surface attack and slip away... no no !! As soon they saw me, they called the RAF and the Navy right away, planes were there in a minute or two and now the DDs that were probably on patrol not far away...

Ahhh, but you can out run them "if" you see them quick enough and on the surface. And you can sink them with your deckgun, "if" you're quick enough and have a good gun crew. Don't try it up close tho. Stay just outside their range.
