PMQ's PM May hit back at Jezzer about years of Labour scaremongering about the Tories whom PM May said have put money into the NHS.

I know who is to blame, its the whole stinking lot at Westminster using the NHS as a political point scoring ball.

Nah, you're simply scared taxes will rise and you'll have to start paying some :haha:

The NHS is completely unsustainable in its current form.
What gets on my nerves is in the UK when people throw around the phrase 'free health care'
There is no such thing, some one has to pay for it, Individuals, Insurance companies, taxpayers or government borrowing (tomorrows taxpayers). Its never free.
'Affordable health care' is a better term

*Playing devils advocate* Taking into consideration there are a great many out there with extremely low incomes, means tested may be an option to consider but then the dilemna is what criteria and outcome levels would be applied.

I think the only fair way is as it was intended....free for all.

JU_88 05-25-18 09:09 AM

I've not really looked in to all the ins and outs, but its costing what? 124 billion a year now? thats about about a quarter of the governments annual budget isn't it? - yet its still under funded.
Maybe its badly managed and it doesn't help the uk population has doubled since 1980, (bearing in mind most are taking out more than they individually put in)
and we have an aging population on top of that.
I don't want the NHS to go as much as the next guy, but something will have to give sooner or later.

Scotland 'would keep pound' in years after independence
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotlan...itics-44237957

Under those circumstances Scotland would have to accept monetary policy and interest rates set by the Bank of England without any concern for the economic circumstances in Scotland

Catfish 05-26-18 09:41 AM

I do not think Scotland really strives for indepencence.. i guess they use the threat to have a better position in negotiating their position in the UK's future :hmmm:

Jimbuna 05-26-18 09:54 AM

^ you may well be right because my current understanding is that the Scots are tired of the independance rhetoric.

Talks between the UK and the European Union need to "speed up" if a deal on a future relationship can be made in time for Brexit, the EU's negotiator says.

Speaking in Lisbon, Michel Barnier said the UK needed to stop playing "hide and seek" and instead clarify its demands.

Earlier this week, UK officials warned the EU that its approach to Brexit negotiations risked damaging its security and economic relationship.

It would appear that both parties have once again strayed into the political minefield of accusations and counter-accusations.

STEED 05-27-18 05:05 PM

Place your bets for a botched brexit now..:03:

Jimbuna 05-28-18 06:44 AM

Take it to the extreme and some might say there won't be an EU left to exit from in 3 1/2 years time.

Catfish 05-28-18 07:08 AM

^ But who will the UK blame, after this? :hmmm:

Jimbuna 05-28-18 07:10 AM

^ Anyone but themselves, you can bet on that :yep:

Catfish 05-28-18 07:15 AM

Then they have a lot in common with the EU :haha:

Jimbuna 05-28-18 07:17 AM

True that :03:

No one will challenge PM May as they don't want the Brexit burden.
