Qatar says Israel and Hamas have agreed to a two-day extension to the current truce which has seen hostages freed and Palestinian prisoners released.

Hamas has committed to releasing another 20 women and children over the next two days. US national security spokesman John Kirby says.

Families have been informed by the Israeli government that a further release of hostages will take place later on Monday.

As part of the Israel-Hamas deal, 39 Israeli hostages in Gaza have been released so far with 117 Palestinians freed from Israeli jails.

Further lorry-loads of humanitarian supplies entered the Gaza Strip on Monday with food, fuel and medicines being distributed by aid organisations.

The temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has entered its fifth day after a 48-hour extension was agreed.

Three Palestinians will be released from Israeli prisons in exchange for each Israeli hostage returned from Gaza.

But Hamas says it is not holding all of the captives in the Gaza Strip, which could complicate efforts to free the most vulnerable.

A senior Hamas source in Qatar tells the BBC that some of the civilian hostages are held by smaller groups like Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

The source says 10 hostages will be released on Tuesday and another 10 on Wednesday but these numbers have not been confirmed by Israel.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has used the pause in fighting to get desperately needed aid into Gaza, but says much more is needed.

There are hopes the truce between Israel and Hamas could be extended - talks are being held in Qatar about a possible new deal.

Israel says it's received a list of hostages held in Gaza who could be released later on Wednesday, on the sixth day of the current truce.

On Tuesday, 12 more hostages were released by Hamas and Israel freed 30 more Palestinian prisoners.

The son of Ada Sagi, who turned 75 while being held in Gaza, told the BBC he was "over the moon" at her release.

Palestinian prisoners have alleged mistreatment while in Israeli jails. A 14-year-old boy said he witnessed beatings; Israel has not commented.

Hamas crossed the border and killed 1,200 people in Israel on 7 October, with about 240 taken hostage.

Since then, Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry says more than 14,800 people have been killed in Israel's retaliatory campaign including about 6,000 children.

Three people have been shot dead in Jerusalem after two attackers reportedly opened fire at a bus stop, at least six others have been injured - some of them critically.

Hamas has claimed the gunmen - who were shot dead by police - were its members.

It comes a day after two Palestinian boys, 8 and 14, were shot and killed during an Israeli army raid in the West Bank city of Jenin.

Separately, Israel has extended a temporary ceasefire in Gaza for a seventh day as international mediators try to negotiate the release of more hostages.

On Wednesday 12 Israeli and four Thai hostages held by Hamas arrived back in Israel.

In exchange, 30 Palestinian women and teenage boys were freed from Israeli jails.

The Hamas attacks on Israel on 7 October killed 1,200 people with around 240 others taken hostage.

Since then, Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry says more than 14,800 people have been killed in Israel's retaliatory campaign, including about 6,000 children.

Fighting has resumed in Gaza after the seven-day temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas expired.

Both sides have blamed each other for the violence restarting after a week in which more than 100 hostages were released by Hamas in exchange for 240 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says dozens of people have been killed since the Israeli bombardment resumed.

Our reporter in southern Israel says rockets have been seen being fired to and from Gaza this morning.

The Israeli military has dropped leaflets warning residents of Khan Younis, a southern city, to flee further south for their safety.

Earlier, the US warned Israel that the "massive loss of civilian life" seen in northern Gaza should not be repeated in the south.

Israel's renewed bombardment of Gaza is continuing into its second day, as the military warns civilians in some areas to evacuate.

Fighting resumed on Friday after a seven-day ceasefire expired; Israel and Hamas have blamed each other for failing to agree an extension.

The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says more than 178 people have been killed since the bombing restarted; the Israeli military says it's struck 400 targets all over the Strip.

The IDF says 50 strikes hit the area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza overnight. Civilians were told to go there earlier in the war for their safety.

Sirens were also heard in parts of Israel on Friday, with rockets fired from Gaza intercepted.

100 hostages for 240 terrorists what a bargain. I'd have sewn RFID tags in all those released terrorists clothing. :D

The Israeli military is shifting the focus of its offensive to southern Gaza on a third day of renewed fighting.

The military says it is targeting Hamas command centres, weapons storage and naval forces after its ceasefire with Hamas fell apart on Friday.

The US defence secretary reiterates Israel's right to defend itself, but stresses it has a "moral responsibility" to protect civilians.

US Vice President Kamala Harris says too many Palestinians have already been killed, with a "devastating" amount of human suffering.

Residents of Khan Younis yesterday said the southern city has experienced its heaviest bombardment since the start of the war.
